I just received mine. A couple things I've noticed, I can notice a small amount of image quality loss, it doesnt seem as crisp. I tried using a MS Natural Keyboard Pro with it, which is USB, I tried to use a USB ---> PS2 adapter. That did not work, anyone know of any solution to this.

dos4who: Yes, this does emulate a keyboard and mouse, I am able to switch computer while its booting.

I'm wondering the same thing. Can anyone who has this say whether the symptons below happen with this Linksys KVM and a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical? trikster2, I had the exact same experience with a Belkin Omni Cube. Got my optical mouse free that way.

Anyone having problems "loosing" the mouse while playing with this KVM.

I have a belkin KVM that I use with a microsofte Explorerer Optical mouse. After folowing all of belkins sugestions (such as using standard ms mouse drivers and giving up most of my extra mouse buttons) the mouse will still go away while switching between computers.

Now I probably switch 100 times more than the average users as I am playing a multiplayer game on each computer. But every other night or so my belkin will completely loose the mouse killing myself and online friends.

Would this Linksys be a good replacement for my belkin?

I tried a Logitech USB keyboard with a USB to PS2 adapter and it works fine, so it must be the MS keyboard.

I have one question, what do you really need this for? Can you guys give me a list of reason why?

I have two computers on my desk at home. (Well, under the desk.)

Now I only need one mouse and one keyboard.

Uhm... isn't that what KVM switches are *always* for?

Can anyone either confirm or deny that this thing emulates the peripherals during boot-up?

I already confirmed it for you dos4who, it can.

I want to know if anyone has a fix for it not working with my MS Natural Keyboard Pro.

I'd love to know this as well. I just bought this KVM because I couldn't resist the price, but I'd be bummed if it doesn't work with my wireless Logitech stuff.

Finally found a difference between the two units - the PS2KVMSK allows you to switch between the computers from the keyboard but the KVM100SK doesnot. Hope this helps somebody who was as confused as me on which unit to buy.

OK, I got this KVM switch today (that was fast!) -- setup was a breeze.

I have noticed the following:

1. Slight *but definite* degradation in video quality (and I'm looking at a 15" LCD display, so I imagine it's easier to spot on larger displays). However, it's not horrible. Therefore, I'm not going to use this on my gamebox with 19" monitor that I want to look pretty. I'll keep it to switch between my home LAN server and LINUX play box.

2. Mice can be twitchy. In my case, I'm using an old MS natural keyboard (PS/2) and a MS Intellimouse Optical mouse (USB w/ PS/2 adapter). The basic functions of the mouse work fine, and survive switching back and forth (which is totally cool), but I haven't been able to get the scroll wheel to work yet. That's the biggest downer so far -- I hadn't realized how addicted I got to that damn scroll wheel over the last couple of years....

If you're gonna switch a PC that requires highest quality video, you might want to look elsewhere. But for my relatively limited purposes, this was a steal of a deal.

Nice price. I was checking out the difference between the two models and here's what I found.

The PS2KVM2 is a compact (smaller) model and appears to be a newer design - Close-up

The KVM100SK appears to be an older model and comes with a serial/PS2 mouse adapter and AT/PS2 keyboard adapter. Looks like it was designed to handle older mice and keyboards - Close-up

Got mine and installed it this am. WOrks just fine, video quality is good and works with my Logitech Trackman Marble+ with the USB to PS2 adapter just fine.

Thanks!

I got mine yesterday and it works great. I don't notice and video degradation at all.

If you're having problems getting your wheel to work, uninstall any mouse drivers you may have and use the standard ones from Windows.

Question - can I use the switch to toggle just the keyboard and mouse btw systems but still have dedicated monitors for each?

Is anyone using this KVM on a monitor at 1600x1200? I'd imagine the video quality would be pretty stressed and since that's my primary resolution, I'm not going to bother with this unless I can run it that high.
