Call Staples.com buy the router over the phone, pricematch with Onvia.com, then use the $40 off $150 coupon from *echbargains, and get free shipping for orders over $50. Your final price is about $115 with free shipping (unless you live in CA then there's tax)!

Please save yourself the hassle and do not buy this router. You will regret it, since many people, including myself, have had problems with it. Grab a Netgear RT314 instead, or a Zyxel 314. They use the same firmware, and I have been running the Zyxel firmware on my Netgear RT314 perfectly. I owned the Linksys before this, and it could not hold the connection in browsing/email, and neither in games.

Even better, buy the SMC Barricade router from Buy.com.
They have it for $152, there is a $30 coupon and SMC has
a $20 rebate until Oct. 31. This router has a built-in
printer server (Win95/98/00 and Unix lpr) and suports the
hook-up of an external modem, should you need it. The
Linksys router has caused many problems for many people
(see e.g. www.practicallynetworked.com). With taxes and
shipping you should get the SMC for less than $120, may be
cheaper.

Vin, this isn't really the appropriate place, but fyi I have had a linux box running as a mail/web server behind one of these routers for 163 days now. Works *great*. In fact I just bought a second one a week ago and am using that at home now. I cannot in any way vouch for it's suitability for gaming - but for surfing and other general purpose use (not to mention hosting a website and busy email server) it has been fantastic, and a good deal at $150.

I have this Linksys router running on my network, no problems at all in two months of sharing ADSL among 4 pc's. Can't comment on games, haven't had a chance to test it. Think I paid $125 from Buy.com with a coupon. $115 sounds good.

If you like the SMC, the best deal now is from Egghead... they have it for $119.99 (no coupon required) with a flat 6.95 shipping charge. I think the $20 rebate is still available 'til the end of the month.

BAH !!! With all the smoking deals around here just build a server ( like I did ) and run either Linux or Windows 2000 Advanced Server with routing or internet connection sharing. Then all you need is a switch which should cost you alot less. I bought an 8 port switch and connect my server up to it and my cable modem. It's like I'm running straight through my cable modem with 0 ms traces and online games run perfectly. But I still have 2 more ports left open on my switch. Anybody know of any more good mother board deals?? ACK !!!! nevermind, I'm going broke !!!

This Linksys router was utter crap. I cannot stress it more. There have been many good stories about this router, but that does not account for the amount of bad stories. My friend has this router running perfectly fine, yet mine could not hold a connection even with the newest firmware, etc. Take this into consideration, and check out www.practicallynetworked.com, since there is a user opinion post forum thing there, where there have been many complaints about the Linksys.

I have the SMC router too. I bought it a while back when alot of people on this forum stated it was a hot deal, and at the time I didn't know the difference from a router to a switch. Well anyways the SMC was pretty easy to set up even for a network ignorant guy like me and plus that printer server is pretty cool. I do have problems sometimes with this router( I think it is the router). Sometime I can't connect to the net and when I just turned off the router and turned it back on it would work fine(this is why I think it is the router).

that was my 2 cents

SMC all the way. Rock solid LAN @ 100 mbps and as a Broadband Router it could not be any better. Plus the printer port kicks ass.

I got the Linksys and WOW WAD (what a diference) Not a chance

SMC is definitelly the best buy!!!

I too had BIG problems with the linksys. The SMC barracade has been running almost fulltime for two months now without a single lockup or reboot necessary. Rock solid router/switch! And the built in print server just sweetens the deal.
