Kudos to Raistlix for the original post and the "you the man" award to JesseKnows for a Super Deal in 2000. Shades of November and December 1999 when OM, OD and St****s were giving stuff away. I picked up two for $4.33 after rebate and I know there are more still out there. Happy hunting for those not in on the deal yet.

Well, after reading about this thread for the last few days, I decided "what the heck". So I called 5 O'max this morning and one of them had it about 30 miles away. Asked to put it on hold. As I get into the store I see the manager holding the box, he's telling another store yeah we have one, but someone called before. As he hung up I said "I think that's for me". He laughed, he then rang it in and went "wow, is this real" $21.34. Asked if they has another he said no. Oh well version 1, but since I have a linksys router (4port), not sure what I will do with this thing (not for sale).

What part is version 2? I see only a version 4 on the LAN cards. Nothing on the box.
The hub I got was black. Called their 800# about the missing LANBridge CD's and they never returned my taped message.

Sometimes I hate being up in Canada. Got as far as registering and it shows the correct price. Register and it's up to CDN$129. Arrrgh.

Version 1.0 FENSK05 is the one with the bigger dark grey(EFAH05W)hub. Usually two (2) version 2 of LNE100TX FastEthernet Adapters (PCI, 4 LED), Descent 3(Multi-player, Full version) and Internet Lanbridge. Drivers only for Win 95 and 98 on 2 3 1/2" disk. Got the last one from OM (Burbank, IL) rang up $19.00 plus tax. Computer said they had five, but sales rep only found one, must be keeping the others for themselves. Also bought the last one (version 1.0) at OD (Chicago Ridge, IL) but rang up at $29.88 plus tax.

Version 2.0 FENSK05 is the one with the smaller light blue(EFAH05W)hub. Usually has two (2) Linksys LNE100TX FastEthernet Adapters (version 4, 2 LED), Soldier of Fortune (Tactical Low-violence version), Sygate 4.0, Turbolinux 6.0 (Server) Lite, Drivers for Linux, Win 95,98,2000 on one 3 1'2" disk. Got this from Best Buy (Burbank, IL) with a pricematch from OM. Showed my receipt, sales rep called OM and confirmed the price of $19.00 vs. their $89.99 and Sales Manager signed the form for pricematch.

All kits also include 2 15-foot Category 5 UTP cables, and power supply for the EFAH05W hub, user guide, registration card.

Well, both mine are the same. The hub is actually dark gray, model # EFAH05W. It has a black face panel where the jacks are in front. The LAN cards have version 4.1 on them. The drivers were on a floppy and there was the Descent CD's. The LANBridge CD was in neither box even though the sticker on the box says it is in there. 2 blue Cat5 cables and usuall pamplets/manual. I really wouldn't give a rat's patuti but I have both on same sales receipt and if I send it in for the free Sygate stuff, I am worried they will only send me one CD. If I had it on separate bills I could just send in 2 requests. I will have to email/call Linksys again about the LB CD's and the Sygate mail in. OM manager probably swiped the CD's to eGay them.

There WAS still one kit left in Sterling Heights, Mich. Maybe no more since the girl who ran the register was so surprised about the price and babbled about what a great gift it would make.

i'm worried now. i've got four of those descent 3 kits, could probably get more, but don't want to be greedy. guess i've got to open them up and make sure everything's in place

edit: CPU, when the thread gets this big, people don't respond as soon IMO. D-link's mileage varies, some great, some not so. i think it's a general rule that with these types of products, if you know what you're doing in the installation, you'll be fine. read the other posts above, if you haven't already. gl

I must admit, I went over to my local Spokane OD and they had 1 of the Network in a box in the lock up room. I like the hub, except the cables come out the front but I can see the speed difference already in my daughter?s computer. My old hub was a Acerhub 509u 10 meg hub and this new Linksys is a 10/100 hub, her tribes game is able to ping much faster and gather information from the servers out there now it is utilizing the 10/100 meg Ethernet card in her system. I did not try the 2 Ethernet cards because a number of people have stated there having trouble with them with Windows 2000 and I run that and Me. Also when I was there, I picked up the Logitech Wingman Thunder pad for free with the coupon sitting at the front door in their sales flyers. Also they told me they still had some of these Linksys Networks in a box in Hawaii...

Thanks again guys....

Hey Guys,
I have watched for awhile now, but I must finally make a comment. I too was wanting to get in on this deal. The page said it was in stock, so I signed up and then they where out of stock. The interesting part is that if I cleared my cookies and closed my browser they where back in stock when I went back to their site. Is OfficeDepot just collecting information to spam us by offering some great deal they know they aren't going to fill.

Thanks for all the other great deals.

I had a friend pick up this kit for me at his local OM, but when I went by his house to pick up my kits he didn't have the receipt. Could someone that bought 2 or more of these kits PLEASE email me a copy of your receipt? My Email Addy I would like a receipt with 2 kits on it, but if you only bought one kit that is fine.

TIA

Stingygrrl:
Did you have to fill out 2 separate forms for those or were you able to use the one form? I got 2 kits but both are on the same bill and I don't want to give them the excuse to disapprove it (like Staples).

OOps...I missed the wanted 2 but sent in one box cutout.
But did they say you only get one because of that, or because of only one per request?
