I came home from work and was reading the techie boards. I saw this Linksys deal and added it to my list. I printed out the Best Buy online price, hoping it was the same as in-store. since I didn't have a BB flyer (might not have even been in it) or a xerox of the shelf tag. I went to Office Depot and they located the item. When I went to check out I said I wanted a price match. Okay, so I showed the online print out I had. The guy said they don't match online. So I said it's the same price, but he had to call BB and verify they had them in stock. I said okay, no problem. The guy called BB, but the number just rang and rang. So I called on my cell and it just rang and rang. He called the KID CSR over to take over and decide if they should just go ahead and give it to me or not. I showed the KID CSR the $20 off $50 coupon I wanted to use. So the KID CSR decides to call BB again. Then the KID started talking, and he turned around towards me and says 'So you are out of them,' so I can hear him. I started getting suspecious since the guy before him nor I could get BB to answer. Then the KID CSR says that he can't do the PM cause BB did't have them in stock. I said, look I've bought $500 here in the last 2 months. The KID says, rules are rules. Then I said, if I go home and order it online and have to come back in to get it, I'm going to write a 5 page complaint against you. The KID said that was my choice. So I left and tried to call BB on my cell from my car. BB's number just rang and rang like before. I drove over to BB and they had 3 on the shelf. I asked the Electronics guy if anyone had called recently and asked about linksys pricing and stock. He said he'd been there all day and no one had called. So, I explained the ordeal I was being put through with OD. The BB guy offered to go xerox the item box and shelf tag. Then while in BB I called over to OD and talked with an assistant manager. I told him that I was at BB, they had them instock, that I'd never been screwed over so bad by OD like this before, and that I was TOTALLY PISSED OFF. I told him that I had the BB guy right there to verify price and stock. I handed my cell to the BB guy and he and the OD asst. mgr. talked for a few mins. Then I talked with the OD asst. mgr. again and asked if he was going to honor the PM. He said to come back to OD and they would. I told him that I wanted 2, this sale to happen without a hitch this time, and to take less than five minutes. Before I left BB, the guy told me that the OD guy basically said he'd called BB and they lied to him. (YEAH RIGHT!!!WHY WOULD A STORE LIE ABOUT STOCK WHEN THEY'RE IN BUSINESS TO SELL AND MAKE MONEY!!!) So I took my time driving back to OD, even though it was 1 mile away, but rush hour traffic now. When I walked in the KID CSR that had refused to honor the PM was at the counter. The KID took one look at me and got the Linksys. I told him that I wasn't going to turn a complaint in on him. He rang me up. Right before I left I said to him that I knew he lied and faked calling BB on the phone because they had a power outage and they phone system was acting up. He said if that's what I wanted to believe, then fine. I told him don't even say anything and we'll let it go THIS TIME. THATS WHEN HE WAVED ME OUT OF THE STORE!!! HELLO! I JUST TOLD YOU I WASN'T GOING TO WRITE A COMPLAINT ON YOU, BUT NOW I AM... as this was one !@#$ of a customer distraction/inconvience: cell phone air time, gas to drive and verify stock myself, my personal time.
