scarpozzi - you might want to read through the thread, but yes sign up for voipbuster and you get free outgoing calls.

Thanks for the reply. I will try the paypal option tonight.

I posted in the SIPDiscount thread that I finally got to make a free call with the PAP2. Voipbust didn't work, SipDiscount does. But SD would not work without the 5 euros

I unlocked mine. But I'm still having trouble getting the password for Admin. Does anyone know what the default is? I read in another thread that it's supposed to be blank. I typed admin as the username and it won't allow me to login.

The firmware version is 3.1.3 (LS). Any ideas? Thanks-

For me, I just logged in as user...then when logged in as user, if I clicked on the 'admin' link, it automatically logged me in as admin and gave me access to the advanced features.

Does this not work for you? (That is, can you log in as user and click on the link?)

This is all I did as well. If you can't get to it from the user panal, it may not be completly unlocked yet.

Here is my exp. First, I used the firmware I downloaded from a link at FW which for some reason doesn't have all the tabs you are suppoused to have. So, I downloaded new files from the two links GTFan posted at the begining of this thread, and they worked.

The instructions at FW are easier to follow though!

I got it....I reflashed the firmware with the SP2 config and changed the admin password from a blank one to match the user password....then flashed it back to the pap2. This gave me a password that I could login with. I'm not sure why it didn't work as blank...could be my browser? Who knows. Working now....I'm going to see about one of the free options and setup some accounts.

Obviously, an insidious conspiracy by by unseen dark forces. The world is treachery.

BTW, Pastorjay PM'd me that he got an audio prob solved with VBuster - as on a recent site I looked at, changes in the VIA settings.

This deal seems to be back at both Circuit City and Best Buy.

$59.99 price minus a 50 and a 10 MIR at each one.

BB at least says you must activate Vonage service for the rebate. I would suspect CC requires the same.

The nice thing about the Staples deal is that you got the Staples Easy rebate w/o having to activate Vonage service.

The deal is even better at CC! Get a $10 rebate + $50 GC.

CC PAP2 link

Rebates for $10 and $50 GC are on the product page.

Neither of these rebates require Vonage activation, best as I can tell. There is no requirement for that on either of the forms.

You might be able to do a little better by PM'ing CC to Staples, I think they still have it for $50.

Staples still has it for $49.99. How do I do a PM again? Do I have to show a reciept or a printed online description page will do?

You take a copy of the Staples add that clearly shows the item name and price to Circuit City. Pick up the adapter and take it to the customer service desk and ask them to price match showing them the print out.

I just did that... got the adapter for $50 with the $50 giftcard, $10 rebate and also a $50 MIR for vonage activation... VERY sweet. Even sweeter if the $40 coupon works too!!

How did you guys get CC to PM to Staples? I didn't have the Staples ad handy when I was going to CC so I took a printout of the online description which had the price at $49.99 before rebate.

CC says they don't match online printouts, only the real ads from the newspaper or junk mail. CC actually had the Staples ad for this week and the price was listed as $59.99, same as CC.

Does anyone have a scan of the Staples print ad that shows the price at $49.99? Thanks.

I think the $40 rebte offer is finished:

Qualifying items must have been purchased between
10/05/05 and 10/15/05

You can do a whole lot better on fleaBay now that the rebate is expired. They have attained about the same status as junque bonds...

Thanks for the update. Yeah, I saw that they fixed the date on the extra $40 in the FW thread. It's still basically free AR (and maybe -$10 if you get a Staples PM) if you count the $50 GC as cash. Not as good as the Staples deal before, but not bad.

Ridefree, I would be somewhat wary of buying the PAP2 on fleabay right now - who knows what firmware and locked state some of those are in. Most of them can be unlocked no matter what, but some folks at BBreports have found units that have different passwords, and a factory reset did not give them access. The CC deal is still the way to go this week if you plan on spending $50 there in future.

Whoops. Did not know the cc thing was still good and had not heard of the fleabay troubles. I seldom get anything from the ebay vendors so am far less than an expurt.

Hmmm.... Just bought a "new unopened" unit off an Amazon trader. What do I need to do to quickly verify its ok? (I'll be taking it out of the country to configure it,just need to know that its working correctly first!)

The only version I've seen so far that people have had trouble with is 2.0.9(LS), so you could hook it up to your LAN (after you unplug your cable/DSL modem from the internet!!!) and check the firmware version by accessing the PAP2's main web page. FW version is on the top right of the first screen and will be 2.x.x or 3.x.x.

Then, just follow the steps in the unlock thread. I'd make sure it was unlocked before taking it anywhere if you're going to rely on using it.
