LINKSYS WIRELESS CARD HELP PLEASE

Hi, I have a windows 2000 workstation in which i just installed a linksys wireless network card (WMP11). I installed the software that i came with and configured the profile for my home wireless network. I have 64 bit encryption.
-I set the SSID case sensitive
-I double checked the encryption key twice

The linksys software provides a small icon in the systray and it says that the card is connected to the network with excellent reception. The only problem is no internet. I don't know where to go from here. help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

if you are connecting to a router make sure you have an ip. to insure that DHCP is working. try taking your encryption off, and then see what happens.

I took off encryption and i get the same result. I can connect to the network but no internet. On the status icon i see that i am able to send packets, but not receive them.

what network struct are you using? it should be ad-hoc on both the router and the laptop or pc.

are u sure it is supposed to be ad hoc? i thought that it had to be set to infrastructure when using an access point.

with ad hoc, anything can connect to anything from what i understand. and infrustructure is for AP to AP, router to router. its at least worth a try. also make sure your AP is connected. is your network cable unplugged or bad? because if you can get on the network and cant get to the INET that maybe the case. btw, is it an AP or router?

it is an AP, and the connections are fine because i have 4 or 5 other workstations connected wirelessly to it. they all work great except this 2000 box. strangely i am able to communicate with other computers that are using the wireless services. it just seems that i cannot get past the AP.
