Linux boxes for 75 bucks! (SEATTLE AREA ONLY)

This might be old news for you longtime Seattle residents, but its good info for newbies to this area.

I just got back from a trip up to Boeing Surplus up in Kent, (just south of
Seattle).

here is webpage, but info on average pricing is outdated

Anyway they have 100's of Dell Towers for 65-75 bucks.

Specs: Pent 166, 32 meg ram, 3.2 gig hd

Not bad for a linux box or firewall or proxy.

Office chairs for 20 bucks.
All sorts of other computer junk.
hehe they even had some old external 2400 baud modems for $1

Best thing:
HUGE server rackmount cases 25-100 bucks.
These things are awesome. They had this one Sun Microsystem Sparc Mainframe
Server Case I could have moved into and lived in, it was huuuuuuuuge.

That's a heck of a box for a linux box.... make it a MP3 jukebox.... my linux gateway is a Gateway 486dx2 66 with a 300 meg hdd ;-)... but then I got it for free from a friend (aka stole) he didn't need it ;-). Pretty nice deal tho. Wish I was there .

Check your local college campuses, U of M has a property disposition as well, full PP200 Systems for 250~300, complete with dell 17 monitor. Of course then there are coupon in the newspapers for 25% off or 50% off. LOTS of dell stuff, and plento old macs. Even some cheap laptops. Oh yeah and if you need a Electron Microscope, 75,000 OBO. I try to get there every month to see what is new.
