Linux + me =bad ntfs partrition in Redhat 9.0 need help

Ok so windows xp gived me a nice blue screen system restore not working nothing so i had a hdd 10 gb one only for redhat
9.0 i am a big noob at linux and i need to access my ntfs partrition on my other hdd i instaled some programs (at least i think)
i cant find where i can open them or something am so confused if you can give me a step by step how to access a ntfs partrition
it will be very helpful anyway my windows cd is to damaged so my cdrom cant read it so no windows

What did you type in exactly? The command I gave you was only part of the command. You'll need to fill in the blanks.

Actualy I think RH9 doesn't support NTFS, you have to install this Linux kernel driver to be able to access your NTFS partitan/drive. Or you can just run Knoppix(comes with NTFS driver) and retrieve your files. heh I'm newb at linux too

Thanks man but i solved the problem got my frends windows cd installd (with my cd key)
and i gotta start using RedHat so am gona get sumething like virtual pc so i can use boath the same time

Use Fedora.

Fedora Core1 = Redhat 10
Fedora Core2 = Redhat 11

The reason for the change is so that Redhat can differentiate the commercial offerings from the public version. Redhat 9 has been killed by Redhat, you can get patches and updates still from the Fedora Legacy Project so yiou can protect yourself from exploits and whatnot. But if you can upgrade to Fedora.

If you want just reinstall, or you can do a upgrade using the install CD's.

Being a newbie is great. You get the chance to learn something. I'd bet that most of the *nix gurus on this site are all newbies at something they're working on now, and will be newbies at something else in the future.
