Thats why I stay away from Canonical now days. Trisqual and GNewSense don't work well on my machines so I am stuck with debian. If worst comes then I will just walk away from technology and put my effort into perfecting my pottery and masonry.
What GUI does Debian run by default? I'm happy with my Kubuntu install but if ever I decide I want to try something else, I may give Debian a try, cut out the middle man basically. I've even been considering going to Debian instead of CentOS for servers, I find Debian has better package selection than RH based OSes too and they're usually more up to date. Often I've run into issues where I need a higher version of a package and CentOS does not have it.
Are you running an all libre Debian install? If so, I wonder why it works, but the other two don't? I'm happy with Debian. It can be as free as you wish, but they don't make it a major hassle to use proprietary software.
I don't fault Ubuntu for trying to make more money off Ubuntu Desktop. The most important feature is that people can turn off the tracking if they want.
I may seem harsh but but I find them to be a bit deceptive and the fact that they try to put money before freedom bugs me.
Some may say I am paranoid but I dont even trust nvidia drivers when ethernet is plugged in so I run my 3d workstation offline.
