linux users - good photo album software?

Hey linux users, I'm wanting to setup a photoalbum section for my website to keep all my pictures in. I've been digging on freshmeat and so far I'm found feature-less products and some that haven't had development work in years. Ideally I'd like something with a directory structure that would be easy to navigate at all times (such as the Forums > Operating Systems type things found at the top of the forum pages) and that is being actively developed so it has a chance of being reasonable secure among other things. What would be really cool is if I could upload images at full resolution and have it generate thumbs and other resolutions on demand. I've not heard of that though, it may be asking for too much I'd settle for being able to easily change viewing resolutions. Any suggestions are appreciated!

heh, you're right, i think it is asking too much!

and are you calling mcpics featureless!?!?!? (jokin )

and would this be hosted on your own webserver or on a webhost? even if what you're proposing did exist, it would probably use imagemagick for the image resizing, the other option would be using, say, php and the gd image library, and although many webhosts have php, i'm not sure how many have gd too.

I'd host it myself at home or see if anyone would if I left it at work (isp) so if it were a resource intensive beast I wouldn't worry too much.

I tried out a TON of them before our baby was born... (can't think of a better NEED to have a website with a photo album)..
