Linux VPN similar to hamachi

despite some articles I have read about configuring hamachi for linux, all of the files seem to not exist anymore and Logmein doesn't support it. I've seen openvpn's stuff but they're only free for 2 computers. I don't need a lot but I would like the option to have a few more than 2.

Been googling around without much luck.

Anyone know of software for linux that will accomplish this?

Well, after a crap ton more searching, I've found that I can run for free openvpn, which is what i'm working on setting up. I have also found 3 hamachi-like programs if anyone else is interested.

Not sure of your requirements, but I use DDWRT and 2 linksys routers to run a vpn between my apartment and my parents house. It works very well and has been very reliable for me.

Not sure what it would take to add in an openvpn client running directly on a laptop, while keeping the 2 sites working, but if I remember correctly it is definitly possible

Yeah that's what I'd go for. You can set it up in such a way that a client can access another so you have a central VPN server that you control and then everyone VPNs into it. The nice thing is that you're not really relying on a 3rd party service, other than the server provider itself, but it's still a server you control. Or you can host at home if you have the bandwidth.

It's a bit tricky to setup at first though but once you find a good tutorial it's not too bad. It's setting up the certificates/user accounts that's kinda a pain as no tutorials seem to really explain the process that great. I got mine working a long time ago and I don't remember all the steps.

Windscribe actually has a pretty easy shell program you run, and it will enable / disable the VPN. You can also get a free account from them for a few gigs a month.
