1)Pray
2) Hire Tony Dungy as DC (assuming TB fires him and he wants to come)
3)Sign Warrick Dunn, should fit well in WCO.
4)Pray some more
5)Get better Players
6)Get a Quality QB
7)Sell Your Soul
8)Other Football stuff

1. Fire everyone.
2. Hire the St. Louis Rams.
3. Accept Super Bowl and a tour of the White House.

Simple.

We need a secondary very badly. I think if everyone on offense is healthy, and we get some quality defensive backs, we'll be okay.

Getting them all to the superbowl is not the problem

Arranging it so they're playing.......now that would take several miracles

1.) Draft John Henderson, Roy Williams, Jabar Gafney, or Mike Pearson

The Lions need a WR Playmaker and some help in the Secondary. Roy Williams will become one of the greatest DB in modern history. He's not projected as high as #3 but it'd be a good pick. Henderson will fit great on the Lions DL - but there's no great need for him.

2.) Draft Kurt Kitner in round 2.

The Lions had attrocious QB play this season. Inconsistency from Batch and Detmer. McMahon is a future pro-bowler - but he's young....may not develop right away.

3.) Accept your favorable 2002 schedule

Tough Games (New York, New Orleans, Tampa Bay @home.com and Arizona, Atlanta and Buffalo on the road.

It's a start

Also to be noted: The Detroit Lions lost a total of 5 games (Titans, Bucs twice, packers, and bears) by a total of 14 points. (4 games by a field goal and 1 game by 2 points) Add in a couple other games lost by a touchdown or 10 points and you could have had a season roll either way. The difference between good teams and mediocre teams is...they win the close games. Look at the Jets this year...

The Jets had a Lions type year but won the close ones (they also lost some close ones too)

Detroit has a good enough running back. They need offensive lineman to protect the QB and keep holes open for Stewart to run through. I haven't seen enough of McMahon to know if he is a starting QB, but he is a start in the right direction. I would dump Charlie Batch and sign Trent Dilfer. Before you laugh, realize Dilfer has won a superbowl and is a winner. He is not a Brett Favre, but if you put good weapons and o-line in front of him, he can be a serviceable QB until McMahon matures in a year or two. Their second leading receiver is their fullback, never a good thing. Upgrade the WR core, Morton is a keeper and Emanuel a decent third down guy, and Crowell might get better if they have better QB play. Sloan is a serviceable TE, but they need more catches out of the position to take the heat off of the QB and WRs.

They have good LBs in Greene and Claiborne. Need another CB, Westbrook is overrated and doesn't get enough picks. Plus they need someone that can rush the passer besides Porcher, who is 32 (33?).

Basically it is going to take 2-3 years to get this team back in playoff contention.

Purchase 52 tickets to the Superbowl. That's about the only way the Lions are getting there. I'm sorry, I'm mistaken. That's THE ONLY way in hell the Lions are getting there

McMahon is a future pro-bowl QB? Please.

You say you need to draft a QB because he is still young, well isn't the same going to be true for Kurt Kittner? That's sort of messed up logic. They need to sign a halfway decent veteran QB, maybe a Jeff Blake if NO cuts him. He isn't going to lead Detroit anywhere but he's better than awful Batch or Mike McMahon. Then use their 1st round pick on either Quentin Jammer or Roy Williams for secondary help. If Kittner is available in the 2nd round he may be worth it. I suspect Detroit will probably be bad again next year, so it's possible that they could get a Rex Grossman or something next year, and just use the 2nd round pick on another need, there are plenty of linemen and wide receivers in this draft, as well as RB's. DeShaun Foster(HB UCLA) seems to be slipping on many peoples lists, he could be there in the 2nd round. Possible steal.

Lions will not be anywhere near SB ready next year. Probably not even playoff ready.

well i didn't focus too much on detroit this season...
obviously they have problems offense and defense...
but germane crowell was out for pretty much the whole season, just when his play started to peak...
and james stewart played injured pretty much for the whole season as well...and he's one of the better backs in the league...
add to that a mystery quarterback every game and you got the lions...
so i say with some good solid draft picks and a stable QB...
the super bowl isn't impossible....

in about 3-5 years....

The lions are already paying Batch, I say they let him start next year. If all else goes well, he's good enough to take them to the playoffs. Give McMahon another year to grow, they're not going to the SB next year anyway.

"McMahon is a future pro-bowl QB? Please"

You know, people said the same to me last year when i said Mcmahon will play in his rookie season and see some success.

If I could come back in 5 years and say I told you so, I would.... but just remember....i said it. Then when it happens...and you're watching the Pro Bowl, just remember you were wrong

<< Take our coach PLEASE!! Dungy that is...WE WANT PARCELLS!!!q]

Who the hell would want the Tuna over Dungy???
Dungy was the most successful coach in Tampa history, with a 54-42 record and a .563 winning percentage in six seasons taking the Bucs to the playoffs in four of the past five years or 66%. Parcells Record for over fourteen years was 138-100-1 for a .580 winning percentage and 8 playoff appearences or 58%. (Numbers on parcells were unusually hard to find tonight sorry if not exact, but pretty close.) In my opinion this is one of those the grass is always greener on the outside, because statistically there aren't a lot of differences. Yes Parcells won two superbowls, however they were during some sub-par AFC years and behind a lot of talent.

So let the flames begin from all of the Parcells fans out there, but better he goes to Tampa than to my Browns and Seahawks (And no I don't need to be told that neither team has ever been to the Super Bowl, the Broncp's fans around here tell me that enough)

Go - Washington Redskins 0 - 16 in 2002! Hopefully, Daniel Snyder is never able to "buy" a Super Bowl...
