Knowing - Nick Cage

Dark Water - Jennifer Connolly

Lost - after the first two seasons

I kind of liked Knowing, but I think Nick brought nothing original to the role. I can see some other stars doing that movie where it would be a lot more interesting and visceral than it was with him doing it.

Dark Water was almost completely forgettable, which is good in some cases.

Lost was nothing I could stomach for very long, sorry all you Lost fans out there.

2002 remake of the time machine. Possibly the worst movie ever, and I'm a guy pearce fan.
The tomb raider movies are completely unwatchable.
Anything with Julia Roberts.

I'm the kind of guy that can still watch a pretty bad movie and be okay with it, but not with the above.

The Time Machine remake was a bit interesting though, and it had some interesting special effects as I recall. But the original was so haunting and mesmerizing at times, I must have watched that version 20 times more or less.

The Tomb Raider movies are a disposable mess, and since that's the demographic they were aimed at, meh. But there was some decent cinematography and atmosphere in them, so there was that.

And some actresses are like the female equivalent of Nick Cage, so there's that, to.

Being Flynn
Wrath of the Titans

Being Flynn thanks for the warning, I considered this one just because De Niro was in it.

Wrath of the Titans was a bit of a let down but not as much as Clash of the Titans was. My expectations for films like these are pretty low to start with, but when the lead actor can't carry the part well, then what you get is a frantically paced action movie while the director tries to gloss over the fact.

One man's "Justin and Kelly" is another man's "The Godfather". There are movies I don't like and would never watch or tell people to avoid it, but depending on the genre they might like it.

For instance a lot of people seemed to like "The Tree of Life". I thought it was, by far, the worst steaming pile I've attempted to sit through. I didn't make it through the whole thing, and I will usually sit through an entire film no matter what.

The Human Centipede was entertaining! The 2nd one however, hmmm. Saw it in one of the 3 theaters that it played at in the US, not so entertaining.

i would actually recommend teeth because of it's absurd nature. if you like b-horror movies it's great. same with human centipede.

of recent times, movie 43 and spring breakers. didn't even make it through all of spring breakers.

I forgot to comment on your movies, hadn't seen those 2, thanks for the warning!

I haven't seen The Tree of Life yet.

Your comment reminded me of something. I saw 2 movies a few days ago. One was On the Road based on the Jack Kerouac novel. The lady at Blockbuster tried to steer me off the movie telling me how everyone had hated it that she talked to. Since I was familiar with the book and the time period and the concept of beatniks, I had to see this movie. She seemed really dismayed at my renting it, and even told me it had "shock" a lead role who couldn't decide if he liked girls or boys! LOL! Honestly, just rent me the damn movie and keep your mouth shut sometimes you Bible belt sea hags. Seriously.

I actually liked the movie, and thought the deleted scenes should have remained in it, and my partner liked it, too. Yes, it wasn't perfect, but overall I thought it was a very good depiction of the times the book tried to convey.

The other movie was MUD. I really didn't think I would like this movie, and again she said it sucked, but I was pleasantly surprised, and the acting in it was well above average and I would recommend it.

You can't have a bad movie with Jennifer Connolly just because it's always worth the ticket price just to watch her.

How can Battlefield Earth not have been mentioned already?

And how does Lost rate a mention in this thread?

Another example is I hate musicals. I just don't like anything about them. So if you asked me to recommend a musical, I'd tell you to avoid them all, because they are all ridiculous. Now what if you liked musicals? Then my opinion holds no weight (and shouldn't).

I'll be checking out "On the Road" though...even if everyone said it was terrible, just because I've read the book and it intrigues me. *shrug* I wouldn't presume to tell someone not to see a movie just because I didn't like it.

Edit: See I didn't mind Battleship or Transformers 2. Both are just silly action movies...I don't expect much from them except mind numbing plots, a couple gratuitous "hot model" shots and explosions. In both cases, they delivered. But I also like movies more considered critic friendly and/or artsy.

Neverending Story III - It's a kids movie so the expectations are already in the crapper, but this was crap.

Transformers 2, and 3 - It's a kids movie... wait, I used that already. I liked 3 better than 2, because the moon stuff was interesting at least.

The Omen IV - It's a made for TV kids horror movie, and my expectations were not good for this one at all.

White House Down (judging by the previews) - not as bad as you might think, it kept me either entertained or hypnotized but I'm not sure which. It stretches believeability at times, but it's worth a rental at least.

Mortal Kombat Annihilation - ROFLOL. No, seriously... ROFLOL!

I dunno why, but even with the plodding pace and wooden acting in Battlefield Earth I kind of liked it overall. After reading the book first, I really didn't think I would like it, but there is something there that just almost makes it work at times, sort of like Dune for that matter. I really should watch that again sometime when I'm feeling a bit bored or drunk, and see if it wears as well when I watch it again. And I think Dune certainly bears at least a second watching for anyone who is still hating on it since 1982 when it came out.

BE was a pretty good book.

Spring Breakers. Just watched this last night, and what a horrible piece of crap.

I guess you (as a man) could say it has redeeming qualities in the endless nudity and sex, but Selena Gomez can't act a dramatic role, and the film was all over the place with bikini clad girls in pink ski masks blowing away hordes of gang members like some on rails shooter.

I guess they wanted some sort of Natural Born Killers film, but it feels more like a flick made by a porn director given the chance at a major film. The only minor saving grace, was a bit in the middle with James Franco.

Funny Games. Just left me feeling horrible. No redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Yea, I was pretty disgusted by that flick, I had to look it up to remember seeing it, the title didn't ring any bells at first. I remember it was pretty grating on my nerves in a bad way, and I couldn't wait for it to be over.
