One man's "Justin and Kelly" is another man's "The Godfather". There are movies I don't like and would never watch or tell people to avoid it, but depending on the genre they might like it.
For instance a lot of people seemed to like "The Tree of Life". I thought it was, by far, the worst steaming pile I've attempted to sit through. I didn't make it through the whole thing, and I will usually sit through an entire film no matter what.
I haven't seen The Tree of Life yet.
Your comment reminded me of something. I saw 2 movies a few days ago. One was On the Road based on the Jack Kerouac novel. The lady at Blockbuster tried to steer me off the movie telling me how everyone had hated it that she talked to. Since I was familiar with the book and the time period and the concept of beatniks, I had to see this movie. She seemed really dismayed at my renting it, and even told me it had "shock" a lead role who couldn't decide if he liked girls or boys! LOL! Honestly, just rent me the damn movie and keep your mouth shut sometimes you Bible belt sea hags. Seriously.
I actually liked the movie, and thought the deleted scenes should have remained in it, and my partner liked it, too. Yes, it wasn't perfect, but overall I thought it was a very good depiction of the times the book tried to convey.
The other movie was MUD. I really didn't think I would like this movie, and again she said it sucked, but I was pleasantly surprised, and the acting in it was well above average and I would recommend it.
