Transporter 3 3/10 wtf...I had very low expectations and they even managed to go lower than that.

Yeah, it was quite the shitty movie. Dunno how I sat through all of it.

Last weekend I rented and watched:

Body of Lies = 8/10 Awesome movie. DiCaprio has done some great performances lately with this, Blood Diamond, and The Departed. I want to watch this one again to see if my 8/10 still fits. I like Ridley Scott movies usually.

Quantum of Solace = 6.5/10 I liked Casino Royale quite a lot and I had read QoS was definitely not as good, and I feel the same. But it was worth the watch and entertaining enough.

Funny not bad but not great. About as good as or alittle better than anchorman but much worse than Old School (my favorite WF movie)

Midnight Meat Train - 7/10

Pretty good but I didnt like the ending. If you had 2 guesses on how it was gonna end you would get it in those two.

Agree with all of that. Leading actress was good, and not hard to look at. It works so much better when everyone's actually speaking German.

The Art of War II - 3/10. Just didn't really care, and not enough awesome action for a Wesley Snipes film.
Tunnel Rats - 6/10. Kind of weird, but in my mind it kind of summarised the Vietnam war. Pretty messy, dirty, brutal and pointless.

Observe and Report 5/10, I thought Paul Blart was funnier, never thought I'd think that.

Australia - 7.5/10

I really had no expectations going into this movie, I really didn't know what it was even specifically about but it turned out to be a pretty entertaining movie but longer than it needed to be.

All around good acting, the little kid did a great job considering he was so young and an unknown.

Zack and Mari Make a Porno - 8/10

Had me laughing my ass off at many scenes but was still any enjoyable movie/story and not only gross out humor.

Fast and Furious - 6.5/10 - I think they should've named it Fast and Emo with how Vin Diesel's character acted throughout the movie. But Jordana Brewster is always a plus .

Yeah, this movie was pretty bad overall... well, mostly it was just really boring. I think the one cop's line pretty much speaks out about the movie:

"Uh hey... I thought this was going to be funny, but it's actually kind of depressing."

Something like that. But I'd say a 4/10.

The Day the Earth Stood Still - 6/10 Kinda boring. Poorly done CG.
Role Models - 7/10 Funny enough. But slid down hill quickly.

Choke - 8/10. Like Fight Club, it's an adaptation of a Chuck Palahniuk novel and deals with the struggle to be male in our modern politically-correct world. Not quite as well done as FC but definitely an enjoyable watch.

I loved BAR, it's reminiscent of Seinfeld in that it's 'about nothing', but with a much darker feel. I understand a lot of people don't like it though, I think dark comedy is an acquired taste. I gave it an 8/10.

Observe and Report: 2/10

I laughed, once. Actually, I smiled more than laughed. It's not a 'dark comedy'. Dark comedies are still funny. This is just a waste of time. People in the theater were getting up and leaving 20 minutes in. I feel stupid for not having joined them. My wife, who likes Superbad, Knocked Up, and those types of movies agreed that it was one of the worst movies we've ever seen (and we've seen In the Name of the King). The only saving grace, if you can call it that, was that we paid matinee prices.

it was supposed to be a comedy? ok...i did laugh a few times but for the most part it was boring. too much going on at once and most of it had little to do with the story, imo.

Yes Man - 6/10. Not great, not bad, a few laughs and won't make you glance at your watch more than once or twice. Zooey Deschanel is mega-cute. I'm positive I would have rated it a point or two lower if it starred someone other than Jim Carrey. I guess I just like the guy.

Tropic Thunder - 7/10. Made me laugh hard many times, but had some slow points.

Hancock - 8/10. It's a shallow action film with decent acting. Lots of badass moments, and shit blows up.

The Thing - 8.5/10: Great movie! I know a lot of people complained about the Blu-ray transfer, but I thought it looked very nice on my screen and did a good job of freshening up the 27 year-old flick. Just a good, all-around alien/monster flick that takes place in the Antarctic. Some of the effects may look a little cheesy now, but I think they still hold up pretty well. I think I may actually buy this BD.

Breach - 5/10: I just couldn't get into this. I've never been a Phillipe fan (I do not think he is very good) which didn't help, but I also found the film to plod along a little too slowly. The story itself is very interesting, but I think I would have enjoyed it much more as a documentary.

Remember the Titans - 6.5/10: Denzel was good, buit I almost always like Denzel, even in his crappiest movies. The movie itself was fine, but nothing earth-shattering. I can't really imagine ever watching it again, but I am glad I watched it.

Hancock - 6/10: Really liked the first half for what it was, but it really fell apart for me in the second half. I won't ruin anything here, but I did not like the way they went with the plotline and the characters, I would have much preferred a different path. By the end of it all I was rolling my eyes and checking my watch.

Adventureland - 7.5/10: Not really anything new here, but I found this movie fun and endearing. I'm a big fan of Martin Starr (dude makes me laugh by just showing his face on screen) so that probably helped things (Bill Hader was awesome too). I thought the story was fine, but it's all of the different characters that make this movie. I'll definitely watch this again at some point.

Freedom (disc 1) - 8/10: Anime series that does not seem very popular, but I have no idea why. I think it's awesome so far, even though I'm not a big anime guy (I keep saying that, but I keep finding little gems that I like). The story takes place on the moon, where the human race seems to live now, but these kids start to investigate what happened with Earth and why they are on the moon etc....adventure ensues! I can't wait to get the next discs and finish off the series.

Sweet. I've been wanting to see this since before it came out in theatres, but I missed it when it was out since it left so quickly. Huge fan of the book, but I had been hearing very mixed reviews of the movie; glad to see someone here liked it. Hopefully I will get to see it soon.

I watched this one recently after seeing you mention it in another post. I'm a big fan of Katsuhiro Otomo's anime and manga, but this series just didn't do it for me. I think it had real potential, but because the series is so short (7 episodes), there wasn't any room for real character development. So the main characters end up seeming kind of annoying and childish rather than heroic.

In terms of anime about near-future space flight, Planetes was about 1000 times better than Freedom IMHO.

Hmm, well maybe it will fall flat in the later episodes (I hope not) but the first 2 were great! I have little exposure to anime, so in comparison to other series' this may not be very good, but I guess I'll have to check out the one linked to see if that's the case.

I was at the MILs for Easter and had the misfortune of being in the room when the following two movies were on:

Mama Mia (0/10) - Wow. So bad on so many levels. If you're going to make to make a musical with a nonexistent plot, it might help to make sure the singing doesn't suck.

Twilight (1.5/10) - I might have been hampered by the fact that before it started my ten year old niece summarized it as being about vegetarian vampires that can go out in the sun. So much emoness that the TV tried to throw itself in the bathtub. Keifer Sutherland made a much better bad vampire and that other guy from Lost Boys made a much better good one. And the girl in Lost Boys was much hotter.

It's not terrible by any means, just kind of oddly paced. It's not much longer than a feature film, but it retains the episodic structure of a series. Because of this the plot moves in leaps and bounds and the characters and settings are never fully realized. People and places are introduced and then gone in a flash. You can't really tell only two episodes in, but it becomes more apparent as you move along in the series.

Edit: I start sentences with "it's" a lot.
