Australia - 7.5/10

I really had no expectations going into this movie, I really didn't know what it was even specifically about but it turned out to be a pretty entertaining movie but longer than it needed to be.

All around good acting, the little kid did a great job considering he was so young and an unknown.

Zack and Mari Make a Porno - 8/10

Had me laughing my ass off at many scenes but was still any enjoyable movie/story and not only gross out humor.

I loved Australia as well, and mainly because of the little boy. He did a great job in the movie, and I'm not really a kids person!

2/10 on Australia for me. and that's only for the cinematography. seemed like an elaborate excuse to make long, sweeping spectacular shots of landscape (that were quite nice), and classic Hollywood-esque epic grand-scale sweeps. throw in a jumbled, un-focused story with random scenes to supplement the grand scenery and heavily choreographed shots.

needed subtitles--I had no freaking clue what they were saying half the time. I thought having the kid narrate was a poor choice--voice-wise, absurd amount of narrative, and just the overall weak dialogue. Not surprised that this seemed to hang around in theaters for about a week (I don't even remember it showing, despite the large amounts of advance publicity.) Seemed like it was on video only a month later. ....that can't be good for the bottom line.

was partially government funded ...increase tourism...so they thought

Atonement 9/10 Great movie if you like series Oscar type dramas. Plus Keira Knightley is so heavenly in this film.

Quantum of Solace 7/10 really disappointing because the last one was so damn good. If I had never seen Casino then this might have been an 8 or 9, but as a follow up to one of the best Bond films ever it has to be a let down.

Quantum of Solace - 9/10 (for a Bond movie) ; I REALLY love the new direction that Craig is taking the character. Now we see ongoing plots from movie to movie and even with emotion.

The Protector - 8/10 for action, 2/10 plot; The plot was STUPID, however Tony Jaa rocks with no special effects, wire-fu or any other BS. GREAT action flick. Sports the longest unedited, continuous fight scene in any movie ever.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop - 5/10; Expected so much more from one of my favorite comedians

QoS is the weakest Bond ever. Casino Royale and QoS aren't real Bond films but Casino was a good action movie and QoS was not even that. Oh and the franchise has been going for 40yrs so I doubt it would choose now to die if it stayed the same way.

not before Dollhouse,. that show really blows hard.

I've liked P&R so far. It's an Office clone but that shouldn't be a surprise.

you must be on crack. dollhouse is 1000x better than P&R.

The Boys & Girl From Country Clare - 7/10 - wasn't as good as I thought the previews made it out to be, but it was decent.

Yes Man - 7/10 Jim Carrey (sp?) does the job in what I consider his second funniest movie ever. A little predictable, but not bad overall.
The Happening - 6/10 Didn't realize I got two Zooey Daschel movies in one night. Not as bad as everyone made it out to be. Throw in some slightly better actors, make it rated R and it would have been a winner.
Super High Me - 1/10 Watched this on TV, yeah I know not the greatest venue for such a movie, but I got the point. The point is that the movie contains no real informative value such as statistics or interviews, or even some scientific testing done. There's also question on whether Doug Benson was even inhaling during some scenes, I doubt it. All this crap on top of having 10 minutes of crappy standup for every 2 minutes of actual film... Thankfully it was DVRed so I could skip over that garbage.

Dragonball: Evolution: 2/10 - I should probably preface this with the fact that I'm quite a fan of the original Dragonball anime and going into this film, it probably had no chance of anything higher than a 5/10 based on trailers. But anyway... I think the biggest issue facing the film is the title. Evolution suggests that something goes from one state to another based on outside stimuli... typically as a chance for survival. If creationists need any evidence that Evolution is false, just take a gander at this movie. I'm fairly certain their subtitle of "Evolution" was included to point out that this movie is not meant to be Dragonball but rather a re-imaging (read: complete tarnishing) of the show and that's a large problem as it seems it was handled by a room full of 12 year-old fanfic writers.

Casino:: 7.5/10 - It was decent. Doesn't really set it apart from other movies very much. It was well produced, so it gets an 8. The movie was too long, Joe Pesci got really fucking annoying half way through and same with De Niro's wife in the movie. It could've been better, easily so.

The Big Lebowski: - 8/10 - Had never seen this before. Enjoyed it too. Each character was well played, Jeff Bridges was especially good at being The Dude. The whole kidnapping/money affair was a pleasant surprise at the end. Maybe it was the slow pace of the movie, but I wasn't really into it...

Catch me if you can: - 9.5/10 - Just saw this last night. A lot of awesome scenes in the movie, and it was very well directed ( by Steven Spielberg?). Great acting by everyone. Never a boring moment for me.

Keane - 6.5/10: I feel as if I should have liked this more than I did. It's possible I was in the wrong frame of mind for the movie, but I found myself very bored in parts of the movie. This is about a man's struggle to maintain his sanity and there are some very compelling moments to be sure, but there were parts that did not work for me and I found myself looking at how much time was left in the film. I think I may need to see this again under different circumstances.

Goodfellas - 9/10 Excellent flick. I loved the story. One of the best gangster movies ever.

Super Troopers - 7/10 Decent comedy. Some good laughs. Entertaining throughout.

Kingpin - 7/10 Pretty funny, but the story was not really appealing.

The Shining - 9/10 I love this movie. The atmosphere, the tension, and of course, Jack Nicholson.

Juno - 8/10 Surprisingly good movie. Someone recommended it to me, but I really didn't want to see it. Ended up renting it and I don't regret it. The story was good, but Ellen Page stole the show...

Being John Malkovich 4/10 Weird movie. I really didn't get some details of the story, but that's because I wasn't really interested.

12 Angry Men - 10/10 Truly a classic. You don't need a large budget or expensive sets to make a good movie. Just throw a bunch of good actors in a room and let them act. I loved the dialog, of course. The story, the characters... the atmosphere... the claustrophobic feeling... This movie is just perfect. Watch it on a rainy summer evening and you've got a wonderful experience.

The Bicycle Thief - 9/10 Wow... this movie left me speechless. Totally unexpected. Such a good story... I don't recall feeling so depressed after watching a movie since Life is Beautiful.

La Strada - 10/10 I loved this movie, especially the main character. Good acting and beautiful story.

My Neighbor Totoro - 6/10 I didn't really like this one as much as other anime movies. The two girls were funny, though.

Me and You and Everyone We Know - 2/10 What a piece of crap. Don't bother.

Man On Wire - 7/10 Good documentary about the guy who walked on a wire suspended between the twin towers. The whole stunt is amazing, but the guy is a total nutcase.

Tremors - 9/10 Excellent B-movie. Pretty entertaining throughout. Silly special effects, but lots of fun.

1984 - 6/10 Nothing compares to reading the book. I wasn't expecting much. The weird thing is that the movie's atmosphere was exactly like what I imagined when I read the book. Even the color scheme...

Pan's Labyrinth - 8/10 Wonderful story. An adult fairy tale with dark themes and some scary images.

Amelie 8/10 Beautifully shot. This movie makes you think about the simple things that make life beautiful. Enjoyable on all levels.

Marley & Me 3/10 Didn't like it at all. I love pets, but this movie basically tells the life story of the average dog, with some romantic side story as a filler.

The Machinist - 8/10 Dark movie about an insomniac factory worker. The story is decent, but it's been done. I like Christian Bale, though.

Transsiberian - 6/10 I like the locations, and the overall setting of the story. The acting was ok, but the story was not that convincing.

The Evil Dead - 8/10 This was scarier than I thought. Special effects were decent, but the offbeat jokes made this movie.

Point Break - 10/10 Not the smartest or the best movie ever, but if you're looking for a good action movie with some extreme sports thrown in, plus a decent story, you got yourself a good flick. Most of you probably saw this movie already anyways.....

Eraserhead - @#$%/10 WTF...WTF.... and another major WTF??? Seriously, WTF did I watch. This movie is a freaking nightmare. I don't even know if I liked this movie or not. I get a mental BSOD every time I try to think about a 1-10 rating for this movie...

Choke - 5.5/10: I may have enjoyed this more if hadn't read the book a couple of times. The book is great and I think provides very good material for a movie, but the execution here is what killed it. The acting was only average and the characters were changed a bit, which detracted from some of what they were supposed to represent. I also thought it was pieced together rather poorly; this was the director's first film and I think it shows. I don't know what the hell they were thinking by changing the ending of the book, particularly because removing the ending makes so many other things that happened prior to the end, completely irrelevant. Should be a 5, but I gave it an extra 0.5 because I thought Kelly Macdonald was smoking hot in it.

Life After People - 7/10 - not as good as it looks. some interesting shots and CG, and I like the way they did it, but it was kind of dry.

The Wrestler - 7/10 - I heard good things but I wasn't sure what to expect. kind of interesting but kind of fucked up too.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - 6/10 - 1st one was better. this one was kind of boring

you hate story; we get it already..... QoS was a clusterfuck of pointless running and jumping and tumbling and roughhousing in comparison to CR. CR was brilliant (in that it restored the "Real Bond," as originally imagined by Ian Flemming--which we saw in Dr No and briefly in From Russia with Love)

QoS was a sad departure (though maybe not as disappointing as any Brosnan Bond flick after Goldeneye, in comparison).

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - 8.5/10 - Very entertaining. Wasn't looking for anything deep, just some backstory on Wolverine and an action flick. It delivered based on my expectations. I wish they found some stronger child actors for the intro though. Loved the ending too.

Edit: Forgot to add a major effects issue that bothered me to hell, namely Wolverine's adamantium claws. They looked cartoonish all the way through the movie. I swear they looked so much better in the first 2 X-men movies.

X-men Origins: 8/10.

Was a decent action flick and as long as you don't remember to much from the comic books it will be a decent flick to watch.

Just wish they had more conversation from Dead pool before they sealed him up.

Also more from Gambit... I mean he didn't even toss any pool balls in the show.

I agree with your assessment of QoS. Mindless, pointless action loosely tied together with a so-called "plot." Barely entertaining.
