Saw this with the ex when we were in Austria and we both enjoyed it. I'm not a huge romcom guy, but I found this movie to be relatively enjoyable for some reason.

I actually never finished this film . It was just so boring that I couldn't keep watching. I think I got to the point where Cheadle's character was in Sandler's apartment?

Pinoccio 9/10 The transfer is not bad, but I think Disney should start worrying about their archives.

Rocky Balboa - 7/10: Much, much better film than I anticipated. In many ways this captured the heart of the first movie, with Rocky sort of down and out, but for different reasons. There were a couple of cheesy parts, but that was expected and they did not detract from the movie overall. I think I would slot this somewhere close to the 4th movie in terms of how much I liked it.

The Shining - 10/10: Not much of an explanation needed I guess. Kubrick + Nicholson = Instant classic. It's just amazing to me that even after many viewings this movie is still so creepy even though it contains virtually no graphic violence. The horror movie genre just isn't the same anymore.

did you see the director's cut? It's the only version I saw and I really like it--but yes, Orlando Bloom is HORRIBLY miscast in that role. biggest problem with the film, imo.

I thought it was a good movie to watch just for the action and entertainment. Not looking too deep for meanings and whatnot though. Beginning is a bit slow.

Highlander, The Source -9000 / 10 Just sat through the first ~10 minutes of this on scifi channel. All I can think is..... please, someone explain to me how this happened. I remember really liking the TV series way back when, and then they go the notoriously loathed direction of Highlander 2 to make this movie? Who the fuck approved this shit?

This was a SciFi original production, wasn't it? Must be the only explanation.

Having said that, even I have to be in a particular, rare mood to force myself to sit down for a few hours and watch filthy octogenarian madmen babble on nonsensically, yet also tragically lucid and hilarious about the minor and grand facets of existence. The DVD transfer, though, is actually quite excellent for many of these (particularly disc 4: "Endgame" and "Play" featured. retardedly good PQ for a DVD.). Of course, I would not recommend this for the casual viewer.

Samuel Beckett is my favorite author/playwright of all time. Even many casual fans don't realize that the Irish curmudgeon wrote most of his works in French.

My fav story, perhaps apocryphal, has Beckett and a friend walking down a Paris street on a gorgeous Spring day. His friend says, "What a day! A day like this makes you glad to be alive."

Beckett replies, "I wouldn't go that far."

Georgia Rule 7.5/10

I've only known Lindsay Lohan through the schadenfreude of her trashy celebrity high jinks, so I have had an extremely low opinion of her. But I have to say, in this movie, she really wasn't bad at all. She'll never win an Oscar, but she's light years ahead of, say, Brittney Spears in terms of talent.

I wasn't expecting much, but the movie was surprisingly good, imho.

Knowing - 6/10

Not bad, but not that good either. Nothing made sense until the last 10 minutes of the movie. When it ended I just sat there for a minute thinking "what the fuck just happened?"

Stepbrothers - 7/10

Funny not bad but not great. About as good as or alittle better than anchorman but much worse than Old School (my favorite WF movie)

Midnight Meat Train - 7/10

Pretty good but I didnt like the ending. If you had 2 guesses on how it was gonna end you would get it in those two.

Watching Miracle at St. Anna. I'm only about halfway through and considering turning it off. Not good.

Taken - 7/10 - was better than I expected.

The Spirit - 4/10 - I didn't expect much and it didn't disappoint! Much cheesier than I expected.

Duplicity - 8/10 - I didn't think I could do it, but I did, and liked it: 2 hours of Julia Roberts. It's a surprisingly good movie. I caught a matinee show since I'm jobless right now, and there were 4 other people in the theatre with me. After having seen the trailer 5 times in the previous months, I got sick of this movie, and thought it was a rom-com. It's more a comedy/drama/suspense, and while the 'relationship' is integral, the story really is more about the corporations introduced right at the intro.

Finally saw the Wolverine trailer, and holy shit, going to see that. And a movie with Michael Mann, Johnny Depp and Christain Bale, wow.

Favorite book: Molloy

Favorite RL Beckett story: when he was living briefly in Germany and a street pimp randomly stabs Beckett as he's walking along.

Beckett asks the pimp why he stabbed him.

Pimp: "I don't know."

Traitor 8/10 I am not even sure this film was in the thatres. It's an interesting tale about how far you are willing to go for your goal.

definitely in the theaters, and I gave it a 5/10. Nothing really new or interesting when you consider it along with the recent crop of middle-east themed war/terrorism/espionage/thriller flicks. wasn't bad...just more same 'ol, same 'ol

I much preferred the Kingdom.

Watched Downfall (Der Untergang) a couple of days ago. 10/10. It was riveting. Great casting and acting, particularly Bruno Ganz as Hitler. The actress who played Frau Traudl has gorgeous and very expressive eyes.
