Yeah, I almost would not bother with the second one, though it does have a few moments. However if you get the Blu, they are on one disc anyway, so may as well check them out. Sherlock Jr. is awesome though.
The Limey - 8/10: Soderbergh's 1999 film about a rough, older British man (played by Terence Stamp) recently released from prison and in Los Angeles to find out what happened to his dead daughter. Some interesting directing choices here as things jump back and forth between fantasy and reality, but at it's heart it's a revenge flick as Stamp rampages through LA looking for Peter Fonda, the former boyfriend of his daughter. There is some great dark humour in here and some fun performances, particularly Luis Guzman who was awesome as always. Good movie.
Seven Samurai: 9/10 - Fantastic movie. I really enjoyed the characters and story. The film has really held up over the years.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time: 7/10 - Fun movie with lots of action. Too bad Disney was involved because it could have been even better if it wasn't dumbed down and cleaned up for family viewing.
Predators: 8.5/10 - Another fun action movie. Some great characters in this movie, and a lot of non-stop action. well worth a viewing if yo uare a fan of the Predator series.
Burn After Reading: 5/10 - I guess I was expecting a lot more from this movie. It was funny at times, but other times it seemed to drag on. John Malkovich was great as usual. Clooney had a few good moments. The other actors I didn't connect with and got bored.
Inception - 7.5 / 10. The special effects were awesome, the plot was interesting, and it was stitched together very nicely, but overall the movie lacked something to make it truly spectacular.

I agree with the rating (7.5/10). I had to see it twice to really understand what was going on. It was a bit long also. I think it was one of the better movies I have seen but nothing great. Worth seeing in theaters, yes. Worth a rental, yes. Just rememeber, this movie requires that you actually pay attention.

I felt about the same. It's a technical masterpiece, yet the emotional impact was diluted somehow. Michael Caine didn't get enough screen time, there wasn't a lot of backstory to any of the characters other than Leo's, so a lot of time they just felt like chess pieces being tossed around a rather epic game. A very 'cold' feeling film. Impressive even with the weaknesses there.

Yep, good movie. Soderbergh is pretty freaking awesome; I've had The Girlfriend Experience on my DVR for ages now, I really need to get around to watching it.
Finally saw Requiem for a Dream. Pretty good for being made 10 years ago. Would have had a greater impact on me had I actually seen it 10 years ago. By this point I've seen too many fucked up films to be shocked.

Network - 9/10: Everyone knows the line "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore" and I did see this film when I was a kid, but it was so long ago it was like seeing it for the first time again. A great film about a fictitious fourth major TV network that is floundering but in the midst of a big change as the old has to make way for the new as the new owners look at the bottom line. So many great performances here, but Faye Dunaway stands out as the driven, ruthless programming VP and Peter Finch as Howard Beale, the stalwart anchor who has, apparently, lost his marbles and ends up being exploited by the new network executives. For a film that is about people in a room and on TV talking, it moves at a pretty incredible pace and is never really boring. Good stuff.
Faster -7/10. Typical action "revenge" movie. Nothing new here. A bit of disappointment that not enough action. There was a cute blonde chick but she was only in a few scences.
Due Date -7.5/10. Buddy or try to be/fish out of water and out for a long trip across the US. I don't know how that Zack guy is in a lot of movies lately.
Warrior's Way - 7/10. Ninjas fall down from the sky (not kidding). Martial Art dude tries to live in a small dusty town from the Wild West. Some niffty scences and cool CGI stuffs (especially the bullet in the gun of the bad guy at the end) but nothing spectacular.
The Warrior's Way - 6.5/10 At times a visually stunning film with a good story for an Oriental swordplay movie. I saw this in the theater and look forward to the Blu-ray release.
Inception - 7/10 I watched this tonight on a Blu-ray rental and was very impressed with the creativeness of the story. This movie seemed like Dark City meets Dreamscape meets the Matrix. It would be easy for many viewers to not initially appreciate the depth of this film, so additional viewing might be the order of the day for many. The film for the most part had mostly dark scenes and I think it's visual grandeur was not helped by the Blu-ray. So I ended up glad that I had rented the movie.

Good rating. Despite the cinematic wow factor, Inception didn't have a natural flow. The plot ultimately lacked any real depth and was a letdown. Most of the characters were paper thin and it was hard to care about them. It was a decent movie and I will watch it again but it tried a bit too hard to be on the cutting edge of something different and fell short in that respect.
Grave of the Fireflies (9/10): Its the most disturbing movie I have ever seen and one of the best war movies. I felt lucky to have a privileged life after watching it. Its a story of a boy from Japan and his little sister during WW II, I was in tears when the movie ended.. and I hope that the world will never have to deal with another war as devastating as WW II.
Requiem for a dream (8.5/10): This movie should be shown at rehab centers everyday.
Toy Story 3 - 8.6/10 - Very well done, could have been funnier (maybe humor targeted at a younger audience only?), but conveyed some more serious emotions as well. Enjoyed it thoroughly. I liked how it was not predictable.
Black Swan- 6.5/10: I wanted to really dig this movie. I did. It was visually stunning, very tense (and not in a cheap way). Unfortunately, I felt no personal investment in these characters. There was no sympathy, nothing remotely "human." I simply could not engage emotionally with these characters. Portman is great in this, Kunis is unremarkable--her part could have been played by just about any hot flirty actress. To be fair, though, we showed up just before the start time, theater was packed, and we were relegated to the second row, about 5 feet from the screen. D: I simply cannot enjoy anything in that situation. :/ (I wanted to leave, but was pretty much stuck for that showtime. ) This is the reason I avoid opening weekends (wanted to head into the city last week to see it (limited release week), but it was a shitty, rainy day). Aronofsky is one of those directors that I will absolutely see, so that was the impetus to go this weekend.
Anyway, I'd say it's worth seeing for the visuals and overall craft, alone. You probably won't like it if you are a Fountain/Requiem type of Aranofsky fan. The Wrestler was my favorite, (this has very similar elements:
The ending is somewhat preposterously identical. lol!
) but I still was not gaga for this. All in all, there is nothing human--or personable--about the "crazy" in Portman's character. It can all be simplified down to
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - 9/10 - a great movie for fans of rock and video games, I think it's the most fun music-themed movie I've seen since Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey.
I'll Sleep When I'm Dead - 5/10 - Clive Owen as an ex-gangster out for revenge. It looked like it was building up to a good ending, then it fizzles out. with a mess of dangling plot threads Clive Owen fans should just re-watch Shoot 'Em Up or Sin City again instead, gangster/revenge film fans should watch The Limey instead.
