It's all good man, I feel the same way about Michael Fassbender. Dude can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned.

I think basterds is the only thing I've really seen him in. Didn't like 300 enough to remember that, never seen band of brothers. However, Hunger is on my netflix queue, I'll give that some priority.
I predict once the new batman is out, tom hardy will join sam rockwell on my list. he does have some movies that look pretty bad, but hopefully those are in the rearview

Casablanca - 9/10
Can't believe I've never sat through this before. It was nothing like I expected - it was actually great! The dialog was top-notch!
Girl: Monsieur Rick, what kind of a man is Captain Renault?
Rick: Oh, he's just like any other man, only more so.
12 Angry Men - 6/10:
Watching George C Scott ham it up at the end was a bit of a buzzkill to what otherwise would have been a fine movie. I think he did it way too often in his career. Interesting that the role he won an Oscar for (Patton) had relatively little ham.
On the other hand, watching James Gandolfini be relatively subdued was actually pretty cool. The rest of the cast gave a comparatively average performance, including Jack Lemon who is supposed to be the star, or at least the hero.
Better performances were to be had from less glorious actors like Armin Mueler-Stahl and Edward James Olmos. And Tony Danza was so over the top Italian American it was just annoying to watch.
Overall, not as good as the original. But still worth watching if you can dig it up. I'm sorry I waited so long to see it. Came out in 97 and I would have been less critical then.
Also, it had that annoying crack monkey camera work which has since become very popular in cinema and irritates the shit out of me. Automatically makes me think less of a movie and hurts the experience.
Fish Tank and Centurion are two good ones for Fassbender; he was awesome in Basterds! I have Hunger recorded off the Movie Channel at home, but have not had a chance to watch it yet.
Yeah, Hardy is pretty freaking awesome. Interested to see what else he will do.

Yeah I was shocked how well the movie held up after all these years. Fantastic!
I was very confused reading your review until I realized you were talking about the TV movie, not Sidney Lumet's masterpiece from 1957. I'm assuming you watched this version because you liked the original; if you haven't seen the old one, you should make it a priority.
The Fighter - 7/10 - The downtrodden-boxer-finds-success flick feels old-hat at this point; it seems like Cinderella Man was the last movie to get away with it. The Fighter bores in this regard, and Mark Wahlberg, though more than passable, feels disappointingly one-dimensional -- perhaps more due to Micky's predictable trajectory (and I realize this is a true story) than Wahlberg's performance.
However, the supporting players really manage to elevate the film. Amy Adams is highly watchable (if shrill) and provides a good foil for Micky's crazy family, which includes the excellent Melissa Leo as his driven, manipulative mother and Christian Bale in an impressive turn as Dicky Ward, the drug-addled washout brother who clings to his glory days as if they were his only lifeline. As the credits rolled, I realized that the eponymous Fighter could easily be interpreted as Dicky, and this was really his movie.
Have you guys seen Confessions of a Dangerous Mind? Rockwell is freaking awesome in that; probably his breakout role actually.

The Fighter - 7/10
True Grit (2010)--8/10
The dialogue is flawless. Damon is great in this. I actually have no experience with the original(s) (not a John Wayne fan--more of a John Ford-sans-Wayne fan ), so I didn't know anything about it going in. It was a fun movie, but it didn't captivate me like the Cohens previous work. The pacing felt a bit dated--in the sense that there were maybe 3 big beats with little rising action or plot, and they simply "happened" including the final confrontation.
At times, I felt the lighting was a bit too washed. Much of it was brilliant (scenes out in the plains and in the snow), but in town, it just felt too over-exposed to me, and particularly with the opening shot, way too digital. At least, that's how it looked.
"Exit Through The Gift Shop 8/10
This was good. I thought it was funny at times. And, I think it's crazy how much people would pay for "designer" clothes or street art...
Very entertaining and well made.
only 7 huh?
Bummer, I had very high hopes/aspirations for this movie. 7 only gets a rental from me. Not a theater visit
