Bubba Ho-Tep - 7.5/10: Bruce Campbell is Elvis, in a retirement home, with a sore on his pecker and evil is afoot as an Egyptian Mummy is on the loose and stealing souls. This was surprisingly pretty awesome. Bruce Campbell was really quite perfect as Elvis; he had the voice and mannerisms down pat and was actually really funny in a lot of parts (there is an awesome scene where he is struggling down a river bank with his walker; the facial expressions are hilarious). Yeah, it's a bit odd that there is a dark comedy mixed with some odd horror elements, but it pretty much all worked for me and I think that is mainly because of Campbell's Elvis, who was a character I really liked and sympathized with. Lot's of fun.
A great B-movie from ol' Bruce. Ever see his movie, My Name is Bruce?
Cube Zero - 6.5/10 Maybe a 7 actually. I liked this better than Cube 2, but obviously not as good as Cube. Was on Netflix Streaming and I was bored...
I had a really hard time finishing Cube Zero. The plot was too much of a B movie cash in on the name... I liked 2 because it had its own thing going and didn't just try to be another version of the first one.

Touching The Void - 9.5/10: Wow, what an amazing story! A documentary about two guys attempting a very difficult mountain climb that nobody had ever completed before in Peru and the trouble they run into during the climb. It's essentially a full dramatic recreation of the story with an overlay of narration by the guys that went through it all and it is pretty close to perfectly done. Watching the story unfold, if you did not know it was a true story, you would think it was too Hollywood and unrealistic as there are all kinds of close calls and things just go from bad to worse over and over. I do hope this comes out on Blu-ray because there are some beautiful shots and I would definitely watch it again to see all of that in hi-def. Great documentary.

I'm the opposite. I found the second film painful to watch and I disliked how it went a completely different direction from the first first film, while the third and, presumably, final chapter went back to what made the first one fun and enjoyable.

there is an article on gizmodo today about Mt. Everest's "death zone" that is a chilling reminder of how dangerous mountain climbing can be. i had no idea how many bodies are just laying up there in the open because they can't be removed.
Caddyshack - (7/10) I'm on quite the roll of watching old movies. Tits, explosions, and funny. What more do you need?
I have; it was fun enough but I don't think it's anywhere near as good as Bubba. There is, surprisingly, some great subtle humour in Bubba and decent to good acting.

The Town 5/10
Ben Affleck plays the brains in a bank/armored car robbing crew. As the brains he thinks it is a good idea to get involved with a women they kidnap at the beginning of the movie. It is a big surprise to the brains of the group when that later bites him and his whole crew in the ass. Throw in a second really stupid thing at the end and I'm annoyed. The robberies themselves were fun which is why I gave it a 5.
I would say Rodney Dangerfield and/or Bill Murray--but it's all covered!

Anyway, finally started watching The Sopranos. I had long ago watched season 3 + most of 1&2, the start of season 4 before RCN cut off my HBO!
Only now just finishing up Season 3, so I'm almost caught back up...
10/10 and I suppose I don't need to explain that.
Though, I must say that I'm not as engrossed with this as I was with Deadwood and The Wire. Maybe because Swearengin and McNulty might be my favorite characters ever. I dig Pauly Walnuts, a lot, but mostly b/c he orchestrates this fine line between pleasantly and curiously dumb, and psycopath.
I tried watching My Name is Bruce late one night recently and had to turn it off.

My Name Is Bruce - 5.5/10: Pretty ridiculous story about Bruce Campbell (the guy from the Evil Dead films) where a small town comes into trouble with a Chinese monster (the god of bean curd) and kidnap Campbell in order to have him help with vanquishing this monster. Kind of ridiculous B movie style film with Campbell in the lead and directing and honestly I can't say it's something I really liked, but I did laugh and enjoy some of the really silly parts. Not horrendous, but fun enough in spots and as an Evil Dead fan, I enjoyed it more than I probably should have.
I remember watching some of the early Sopranos episodes and I thought it was ok, but it never really grabbed me.
However, last weekend I watched the first two episodes of Deadwood and that is a hell of a show. That second episode in particular belw me away and it lokos and sounds amazing on Blu. Can't wait to watch the rest of the series.

Spranos I felt was WAY overhyped or something. It was good, but shows like Deadwood (as you mentioned) and Rome simply DESTROY it. Its not even a comparison. Maybe it was due to the fact Sopranos just ran too long or something and over-stayed its welcome. But even as you stated, even just watching a couple of episodes of each, you can tell how superior DW is over it.
Besides, who can NOT love Mr. Wu. That cocksocker!
