It can write CDs and DVDs, but not Blu-Rays.

BD writeable media is still too pricey to actually use IMHO.

Watch for bundled software being a worthless version, without good licensed player software the drive isn't much good.

This can be an issue, but VLC can now decode Blu-Ray so this is less of a problem then it used to be.
