<< Just odered mine, waiting for an email confirmation. What type media do I need to use? I have 200 prime peripherals (they were FREE from Office Max). No speed info on them, wonder if they will burn at 40X?????

So then I tried adding a NIC card from within Software and Peripherals and neither
coupon activated. so for grins I changed the burned quantity from 1 to 2. It still
wouldn't apply either of the 10% off coupons. I also tried proceeding further into
the checkout process. The coupons didn't activate and the total price stayed the same.
I aborted before the sale went thru.

SteveSimpson--I just tried the same steps I took yesterday to place my order for $80.55, and it is still working fine, at least for me. I'm not sure why the coupons and codes are not working for you. Yeah, other folks decided to use a $0.05 screw to bump the price up to exactly $100 even to be able to use the coupons/codes, but I have not tried that myself. Anyway, I don't know what to tell you about it not working for you except maybe to try again? Good luck.

Thanks Verbage. I finally got it working by opening a new account.
(I was one of the people who had to change their email addresses
from mediaone.net to attbi.com). I could find no way to modify my
email address at Dell. It must be that you must have a valid email
in your account for the coupons to work. Anyway, a new account
did the trick for me. I love my 24X Lite-on. And this one is even better.

FEDEX attempted to deliver the drive to me this morning!!! So the drives are definitely in stock and shipping, at least for me. The package left Memphis, TN at ~8:30 pm last night, and was at my door this morning at 9:33 am. Unfortunately, I wasn't there to receive it, and I didn't leave a note because I was totally not expecting it given the comments of other folks on this thread. Anyway, I just went to Dell to check my order status just now, and sure enough, it says it was shipped yesterday (4/17/02), and it gave tracking numbers and everything. So, at least for me, and hopefully for many of you, the drive has either arrived, or is on its way and will be there soon. Good luck!

Jeez, you'll never believe this one. My order status on the Dell website showed two tracking numbers, one for the Lite-On drive, and one for the $0.66 CD-R. Well, I first clicked on the Lite-On drive tracking number, and forgot to check the tracking number on the CD-R in the euphoria that the drive had already shipped and arrived at my door this morning. Well, on checking the second tracking number, believe it or not, they shipped the darn single CD-R from a separate location (Miami, FL) instead in a whole separate package!!! That is still on its way according to Fedex tracking. I feel a little guilty here--burning up jet fuel to next-day air express a single CD-R disk to me...

It would be cheaper for Dell if they counted $99.95 as $100 and
ate the nickel.

Or maybe add a item called "Pay us more" and you could fill in
$0.05.

The best solution would be for them to allow us to donate to
some worthy cause. We pay a nickel and they wouldn't have to ship
anything (except to mail a check once a month to a charity).
It's a win-win-win situation. We pay a nickel to a charity and get
a 10% off coupon, Dell doesn't lose money shipping a sub-$1 item,
and a charity gets some money.

Can't beat that price. I got one of these last week for $88 and it is the full retail kil in the Lite-On box (as opposed to a brown "dell" box which my Santa Cruz came in).
