Got mine today and got my rebate letters in the mail, the receipt that came with it showed 8/15/03 as the order date so there shouldn't be any hassles..........

For what it's worth - I called BB at the beginning of this and they said that the shipping slips were not acceptable as receipts. I don't know what slips you got, but the only ones in my packages do not have prices on them and apparently that is needed. (Not sure why since the rebate is not price dependent.)

The email confirmation I got says "This is not a receipt" and the online rebate instructions say "Do not send us your original packing slip".

"Your receipt" for the rebate is what you pull up online after it's shipped. There is a "view receipt" button and the ability to print it, when you go to the BB website and sign in ...your account, order status and the order number ...you can print it from there.

I ordered 8/11 and received the burner on 9/04 ...plenty of time to beat the postmark date 9/16.

Why the rebate companies/printers do what they do is a mystery to us all but, just to be on the safe side in case this was a new rejection ploy (we are sorry to deny your rebate based on your failure to include the phone number as a part of the address), I called and they said not to include that number. Of course, CSRs are not always correct. I didn't include it on mine.

Thanks for mentioning the receipt thing. I almost sent my rebate out yesterday with the packing slip. but ran out of time. I guess I got lucky.

I canceled my order and went to Circuit City and picked their deal on the Lite-on. I was tired of waiting. I kept the label maker. That was cheezie of BestBuy to backorder the lite-on's.

Just called the Lite-On rebate center. They could NOT find me in their system, whereas the BestBuy rebate went through just fine. Heads up.

I mailed in copies of packing slips and original/copy of UPC to each, etc. You get the idea. I am faxing in my information to them and they said they'd get a check to me right away.

What number did you call for the Lite-on rebate center? The number I called, 866-205-3231, said to allow 8 weeks before you inquire about your rebate. This deal is only 4 weeks old. Could that be a reason why you weren't in the system? BB just wrote out my check yesterday but they still need a couple of more weeks to inish processing it and mail it out.

bestbuy is like the worst possible company ever!
they emailed me that it was backordered again, and if i didn't respond they'd cancel my order after 5 days if they hadn't shipped it out. well, then they send me another email saying it's backordered up to 22 days. another 22 days! so i go return the avery labelmaker. then, i get a notice that bestbuy has shipped out the cd-rw order the day after (not that it's coming anytime soon. apparently bestbuy likes to use very slow shipping.) and now they charge me more for the drive (cause it's not combo? it's all their fault)

anyway, to make this relevant to the forum, did anyone get them to reverse the additional charge? like, even though we returned one part, to still charge the same for the other part of the deal? i tried calling but could never get through

Umm...the packing slip/receipt should be the same thing. I only got one "receipt".

Umm...the packing slip/receipt should be the same thing. I only got one "receipt".

Wrong. The packing slip is just that, a packing slip. For the receipt you need to sign in at BestBuy, go to your accounts, find your order, click on that, when that windows opens up it will say, "Order Details", under that you click "View order receipt", when that window opens up you click on the printer icon for your receipt. That's the receipt! It's as clear as mudd. Thanks BB for making it so easy for your customers.

Anyone else having problems with this drive? In W2k this is burning slower than the 16x I replaced with this drive. It cruises along fine for the first 35% of the burn but then the drive spins down and it chugs for the remainder of the burn.

Is it an aspi driver thing? This is with Nero 5

Also, in cdrwin 3.8g the drive isnt even recognized. "No recorder found on selected scsi device blah blah" error message.

Any ideas besides reimaging?

Did you try enabling DMA mode on your IDE controllers in Device Manager??? That should make it work like it should. I had the same problem, a simple check box change and reboot and then you should be burning FAST..

Received and cashed my $20 check today. Avery $10 rebate is on it's way Avery Rebates. $30 rebate is processing at rebatestatus.

I got the $10 afterburner rebate today. The drive shipped separately a few days later, so maybe those rebates will come soon too.

Now is the tough part-getting the rebates. My avery rebate is right there but rebatestatus does not show the Lite-on rebate. Got to call them tomorrow.
