Give rebatestatus some time, they're really slooow, my rebate just showed up a day or two ago. If you call them to early they'll just give you the run around and maybe tell you to resubmit.

Had some trouble with drive too. Latest version of CDRWIN is 3.9E, it's suppose to support this drive but won't work for me. Get msg "start command fails" or something like that.

Nero 6 would fail too unless you try to start image burn with drive empty then put blank disk in when it asks for it, weird.

Alcohol 120% seemed to burn a vcd image OK but it wouldn't play. OK after I specified VCD under type.

I have the latest firmware update from Lite-On.

My blank CDR's are 48x and it burns them at that speed. Are 52x media out there?

Verbatim drives were all Cendyne so unless it was a rebate through BestBuy itself, you might be out of luck.

Verbatim may use cendyne drives but it does not necessarily mean the rebate is through cendyne.

I called BB today and then the CSR told me that I have to send the receipt again and they will honor the verbatim rebate as well. So it will take some more time. She also gave me a fax number and asked me to resubmit a copy of the receipt only.

The Lite-on MIR check of 20$ has been mailed.

dumb best buy. if anyone's interested, i called and asked what they do about products that got here after the postmark date. i didn't get my lite-on drive till yesterday, while the rebate form said postmark by the 16th. so, i asked whether theyy could do anything for this case. basically, no. bestbuy won't do anything for you. they suck.

Got my Afterburner rebate yesterday

But I'm also having a few problems with this drive. For some reason it can't read any of the CDs it burns, or any burned music CD

Same here: got everything except for the $30, but it does show up on rebatestatus as:
"We have received and processed your submission. You should receive your rebate or premium item soon. Please check back again to receive the date your rebate or premium item was mailed."

Rebatestatus has shown it for over a month now, and even though I requested speedy processing (it said on the rebate that the rebate should be issued within 8 months), they haven't done anything yet.

From the rebate tracking thread:

Just got my $30 Lite-One MIR. According to them my info was entered into the computer on Sept. 16. I mailed it in on August 14. So about 10+ weeks.

Yes, at their website, Lite-On rebates
it said "Date Mailed: 10/24/2003"

But the info about when it was processed into their computer was via their telephone number. They seem to do a good job of tracking our rebates, now I just wish they could mail it out to us in less then 6 weeks.

8 weeks u probably meant.. Anyways, I heard first batch of $30 rebates was mailed last week and people got them.. Mine is same as yours - still processing, even though its been like 10 weeks, WAY past their due date.. I say we call them and RAISE HELL!!! If they said 8 weeks, they owe it to us to mail it within 8 weeks. Every day they withhold, its like money invested and they probably making interest off the withheld money..
Question: What is the number to call and b$tch and moan about delayed rebates?

I hope this timeline helps:

According to the Lite-On rebate line at 1-866-205-3231, my info was entered in their computer on Sept. 16. On Oct. 28 I received my check.

According to allisolm her info was entered into their computer on Sept. 24, 8 days later then me, so I figure she should get her rebate on or about Nov 5. To the best of my knowledge she hasn't received it yet.

If your rebate was submitted later then hers you will probably be stuck waiting at least another week. And if Lite-On received it before my info was entered, and you have yet to receive your check, I would be angry. I would politly complain to both Lite-On and Best Buy if you feel it's worth your time. Your other choice is to wait about 2 more weeks. From the day I mailed it in to the day I received my check was just shy of 11 weeks.
