Lite on max burn speed not reported correctly with Nero

Just got my new 24x liteon burner installed. Everything went fine, ive got the latest firmware, and upgraded nero software. The problem comes with how nero reports the drive. If I select the drive info it comes up as saying the max write speed is 20x, when it should be 24x. Any one else have this problem. This was the bundled software that came with the drive from newegg, so I figured it would at least work at the max speed. Thanks.

What does the device manager report the drive as?

Nero will report the maximum speed of the media you have in the drive I think...

it shows up as Lite-On LTR 24102B...im assuming the 24 is the max write speed, so it looks correct.

I use a Liteon 24102B and Nero 5.5.6.4 w/ 16x Imation CDR's and burn @ 24X no problem. Try and run the updated version.

no, not true, I have 16x CD's in the drive....Here is what shows up under the drive properties in nero

Mine does this...

But it will burn at 24x with certain media... the OEM model is more picky when it comes to media...

Damn I missed the part about you updating NERO, lol.

NERO says my drive is:

Reads CDR / CDRW24x max speed
5S54 firmware
Supports overburn
smart burn
2MB buffer
cd text and disc at once supported

and Paulson...does your drive show 20x or 24x in the nero drive properties

alright, so the problem is narrowed down...anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my drive to report correctly

This happened to me too when I updated to the latest firmware. Now instead of burning at 24x it burns up to 16x on certain CDRs, but this only happens with Nero. If I use CloneCD then it burns at 24x.

I just burn at the 16x speed when I use those cds and Nero, really not that big of a deal.

Try Adaptec EZ Coaster maker and see what happens.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled Nero...that fixed it. Now myself and my new burner can live a long and happy life.
