I rented LBP because well there's not much to rent that I haven't played and just so I can see WTF the hoopla about this game is about.

I "play" it for an hour, and impressions is seriously game of the year?

What is the whole point of the game? There is seemingly no "enemies." All I've been doing is collecting stickers and matching them up the character shapes and accessories for the sackboy and whatever is the name for their level points.

I can't seem to find any puzzles. This amounts closely to The Sims series but atleast the Sims you know there's no story and really nothing to solve.

The whole point of the game is to play the levels and solve the puzzles. You just didn't give enough time. It's an incredibly awesome and immersive game.

If you only played for an hour, did you even get beyond the tutorial levels (the first two or three are pretty much an introduction to the game and how to play)? They start to have a point, although there isn't really an overarching storyline, not that there needs to be. There are a ton of user-made levels to explore as well in the Community.

Or maybe this game just isn't up your alley.

I've gone beyond the tutorials. which I seriously wanted to skip as it was annoying. What currently bothers me beyond not finding any challenging puzzles is the foreground/background movements. when I'm in the background and want to jump to the left or right more often than not the little sackboy ends up jumping into the foreground.

Played LBP at my friends, really fun at first but just got boring for me after awhile, partly due to a lack of challenge. I must admit though, the Silent Hill level I played online was pretty creative. I guess it just isn't for everyone but then again what game is?

What GOTY edition?

There was an initial launch version that was quickly removed from shelves before/during launch because it had a music track that contained two phrases from the Koran and had the potential to offend Muslims. The game was recalled and released without that track.

That's the only other version I know of.

yeah I found that Silent Hill tribute level a day or so ago, and loved it. So damn well done, sound effects were awesome.

It's not a game I'll play all the time, especially now that I beat the "story mode". It was very well done and a lot of little comical moments imho, especially when you venture into the community levels and just see something that is a tribute and so well done it brings a smile to your face, or is just pure comedic gold.
As I see it, it's a reinvention of the classic platformer, and I enjoy every moment of it.
Eventually I'll get into building my own levels, but for now I'll load it up from time to time to go look for some community levels I haven't played it.

I also enjoyed the Metal Gear Solid pack, though I did think that it, combined with the characters, was a little more expensive than it should have been.

Then I have no idea what you're talking about. There is no GOTY edition currently for sale or announced as far as I can tell. Not sure what it would include anyway, other than the DLC that's currently for sale on PSN, which isn't much aside from the Metal Gear content and various costumes.

Are you reading about a GOTY edition anywhere besides online forums?

First off, only playing for an hour is your problem. The single player levels take at least a few hours to beat, and they do get HARD (and yes, there will be enemies, and it's a platforming game...not many real puzzles). The level design gets pretty incredible later on in the game, especially considering you could build those exact same levels if you wanted to.

Which also brings me to the create mode. Have you even touched it? That's one big aspect of LBP...being able to basically make whatever you want in create mode. It doesn't sound like you even know why people like the game so much...all you know is that they DO, but based on 1 measly hour of time with the game, you already are set to disagree with them.

I should also mention that you can play with 3 other people, online or offline. You can also share your created stuff online and play other things people have created.

Do you really have no idea what this game even is?

there's no GOTY edition. when I refered to GOTY I meant that in the last few weeks several places awarded LBP its GOTY award for 2008. There might be a goty edition produced but I doubt it. It not exactly flying off the shelves.

No, he has a point. You can't form a great opinion on a game when you spend just 1 hour with a little part of it.

Yea, I agree with hans. I just would have found a less whiny way to deliver my message.

Also, I was kidding.

yes he does have a point, but also, some people don't want to have to spend 3-4 hours to "get into" a game.

personally i form my opinion on a game in about 5,10, possibly 30 minutes as to whether or not I will enjoy it in the long run.

after playing zelda on Wii for like 3-4 hours and being bored out of my mind, then someone telling me "oh it takes about 5-6 hours before you 'get into' it" i've decided to just go with my own opinion based on my first 30minutes or so of playing a game.

there is a reason LBP did not sell nearly as much as sony had hope and anticipated, it's because the game has longevity for a very niche market, and some people get it, and some people don't.

I would say also that if Sony was counting on MP to sell it, especially 4 people sitting in a room, they miscalculated about who buys their consoles. Many who wanted to play fun MP games like that already have a Wii. This game sounds cool, but I won't buy a PS3 to play it.

Frankly, there haven't been any games for the PS3 that required me to purchase the console yet and since Blu-Ray players are nose diving in price, I doubt I'll ever buy one...

I've only played this game for a few hours. The challenge levels are incredibly fun. The only thing I didn't like about this game was the intro credit level. Damn that was annoying.
