This is the only video I chose not to watch. I seen alot of s($* in my day, but this takes the take.

It IS horrible. But nothing like some of the shock vids on the net. Like the Russian one of the kids committing murder on camera. Now there is something I truly refuse to watch.

This has become a huge story in China from what I hear. HUGE outcry and tons of hate going around about this story.

I should expect so.

These are two insane individuals on a population of about a billion.
Anyone can claim that it is China specific. But it happens in a country with extremes between rich and poor. And with the possibility for the poor to become rich.

Pseudo protestant or oriental expression :

"
Where there is honey to be found, not only bees but also flies (Diptera) will be present.
"

I did not watch the video, the comments here give me enough disturbing details to work with...

Don't bother. It's not gory, but it still makes your jaw drop. The sheer amount of indifference is horrifying.
The fact the driver of the first van hit CHOSE to drive over her again elicits a feeling I don't know how to accurately explain. Then I feel an immense amount of sadness for the little girl left on the street, broken, crumbled...and still moving.
That's what sticks in my mind.

As a parent, I think someone would have to shoot me to keep me from tearing apart the first driver. I would go ape-shit crazy on him.

As of 3 hours ago, doctors have said that she is clinically brain dead and in a deep coma. The parents now have to decide to pull life support.

Saw a picture of the little girl with her mom in the paper. Adorable kid. The mom is a pretty, sweet looking lady too. It's sickening that people would just leave a little girl to die in the middle of the road like that. It is a China problem. Their fast and sudden growth had disjointed society. Though it is also a global issue. We no longer see each other as feeling, living human beings. It's me vs you or us vs them. That's why society has so many problems.

I'm sorry I even watched the video. One of the most disturbing things I've ever seen. It's hard to believe that actually happened.

this wouldn't happen here in Denmark, first off because I doubt you could even find 10 people so indifferent about a little girl, but most importantly because you are forced by law to help out a victim the best you can. you also can't be sued afterwards.

Yay Denmark !

As a sidenote.
I know from the a first aid course i had in the past, that the most important part was at that time (In the netherlands that is) to safe the life of the person. Saving lives was a first priority, even if you cause additional non life threatening trauma that can be healed. At the moment, i have no idea how it is now. I must look it up.

BTW, there was no need for anyone to touch the girl and have any legal risk, they only needed to call for help and stand there, which would also have prevented the 2nd truck from running her over.

The big question is :
Would the truck driver stop for one person if not stopping for a toddler on the ground ? Would the truck driver stop when 10 people where standing there ?

Saw the video the other day; I've seen some disturbing things before, but this video really got to me. Probably because my wife and I just had a baby daughter (3 months now).

It's incredibly sad; especially the picture of the girl in the hospital. Why was the girl just walking in the streets in the first place? Not trying to downplay the role that the driver and the people passing by had, but the parents are to blame as well.

One thing I can't tell from the vid is if the driver of the 1st truck ran her over intentionally or not as some seem to be saying. It's obviously a hit and run as the driver stopped when he hit her and KNEW at that point that something VERY bad just happened but decided to run off anyway. But you can't really tell from the vid where the driver's head is looking before he ran her over. Looks like he could have been looking over to the side or something.

Sure, if this had occurred in the US or some other place but you'd be lucky if an ambulance or police would come to the scene at all.

Legal risk? Same reason why no one would help her in the first place. World is full of cowards.

Both drivers who ran over Yue Yue have been arrested, but claimed not to have seen the little girl in the 'dark' street.
Chinese media reports that one of the men had allegedly just broken up with his girlfriend and was on his mobile phone when he hit the girl.
Heroine: Chen Xianmei became an instant symbol of understated decency after she saved baby Yue Yue's life
The Shanghaiist claims one driver called Yue Yue's father to offer him money just before he was arrested.
It claims he said: 'You saw that girl on the CCTV footage, she didn't see where she was going, you know. I was on the phone when it happened, I didn't mean it. When I realised I had knocked her down, I thought I'd go down to see how she was.
'Then when I saw that she was already bleeding, I decided to just step on the gas pedal and escape seeing that nobody was around me.'

one reason floating around is the story of a Chinese man that stopped to help an old lady that had gotten hurt/mugged/whatever.

The lady blamed him as the reason for getting hurt (when it wasn't) and he was taken to trial, convicted, and put away.

This may just be a widely spread urban legend, but it is also enough to make people fear things. Even if guilty, this man's life could have been forfeit because of this. I am not validating his actions, but I can easily see why he chose not to stop, and why he came back later to turn himself in (Especially since his car/plates could be ID'd from the vid).

The "double tap" was purportedly accidental, I am not going to say anything about that....

You probably want to read what you are talking about first rather than speculate. It's not urban myth.
