little XP annoyance

I have no clue what i did to make XP do this, but when it shuts down, just before the wav plays at shutdown, text pops on screen telling me "playing shutrdown wav" anyone know what would get rid of this silly crap?

if you don't mind losing the shutdown wav then control panel>sounds & set the windows log off sound to none

yeah i guess i should have included i already did that, had a wife yelling for me at the time so i didnt, still though id like to know what i did that made it tell me what it was doing, never saw anything like that before.

Did you accidentally switch one of the accessibilty programs on?

I dont know if there is something with XP that tells you what sounds are being played, but its a possibility that you could consider.

Thats SoundSentry, and it is indeed an accessibility option ( Control Panel -> Accessibility Options -> Sound Tab )

Turning off the shutdown sound is like turning up the radio to fix a rattle in your car

Okay, i checked the sound sent. nothing is checked at all, any other idea's?

theres an option somewhere (i got it from regedit) to switch on/off, verbose shut down. basically reports on exactly whats happening at every point of shutdown.
