craigslist. Or find an apartment company you like and check their site - that's how I found my current spot.

I used a broker when I moved to Chicago. I went to the city for a day and they took me to a bunch of apartments to check out until I found one I liked.

Hope you're prepared for the rental prices. Not the highest in the state, but in the top 5 I think.

location: north san diego area - carlsbad, oceanside, escondido

I worked in Carlsbad for a year or so. It's nice up there but I wouldn't live there at 25. Rent down by either PB, MB, or the UTC/La Jolla Area. There are a ton of apts by Nobel, La Jolla Village Drive and Lebon Drive right off the 5. Several of them should be in your price range. I payed $1045 for a 1BD/1BA with all the amenities and a kick ass hot tub by the pool. I figure it's probably around $1200 now.

There's a free service called apartment search behind hooters in the mission valley area. It's across the street from the mall. They found me apartments everytime.

Free. The landlord gives them first month's rent I believe when the broker finds a tenant
