Hi all, i could sure use some help in the confusing world of live streaming. I was hoping to clear up a few things that I can't seem to get a clear answer for. Maybe someone here can finally give me the answers that I need: (here is what we are planning.)
*We would like to live stream a church service. The setup would consist of only a camera that is hooked up to the computer. But I know its not as simple as that. Here are the questions I hope people are able to clear. Thank you in advance and God bless to all.*
1. What is the difference between a capture card and an external capture device?
2. Is a capture card needed for the setup above or am i better off with an external capture device?
3. Are capture devices mandatory to live stream? If so then why is it not mentioned when setting up a YouTube live stream account? Why do people use them if they are not needed?
4. Is an encoding software (such as OBS or XSPLIT) required when you have a capture card/device? Or is it absolutely mandatory whether you have one or not?
5. What is the recommended CPU and GPU to have for the above setup?
6. Is there ever a time when both a capture card AND a capture device are used at the same time?
7. If I was to purchase the Elgato Game Capture HD60 Pro, do I still need an encoding software like OBS and XSplit to use it or does the HD60 come with its own encoding software.
8. Is a high end GPU necessary for LIVE streaming? I understand for gaming this is EXTREMELY important. But this machine will ONLY BE USED in live streaming, Office, and basic internet usage.
9. Are fast read/writes important on a live streaming machine? Is it recommended to go SSD with an HDD combo?
Again, thanks so much for any help anyone can give!
