Live Video Streaming and recording

Hey everybody,

Had a few people ask me about doing it and I'm thinking I might expand into it myself, but I'm trying to get some info on what sort of hardware one would need to live stream an event to an online platform like Youtube or Facebook.
I'm starting off by looking at the camcorder equipment first. Of course there are a whole range of them showing up when I look for streaming cameras and after reading into a few of them it seems like they've just been tagged as a streaming camera just to show up in search results. Does anyone out there current do any live streaming that would be willing to answer some questions for me?
There seems to be a need in my area for someone to stream/record funerals and those sort of events, so I figure I should expand into doing this.

Because any camera that shows up as a device on a PC or that sends the video to a webpage is a streaming camera and nowadays that's going to be pretty much all of them.
What you should be looking for is the quality you want and what outputs you need.
I.e. 1080p/webinterface for a, basically IP/security, camera that will send the video to a page or 1080p/hdmi if you want to get the footage into your PC, with an according hdmi capture card, so that you can edit/clean up or whatever else.

Ok so any vlogging camera that does wifi should be able to stream then? If it is a vlogging one, does that mean the camera handles the audio and video encoding as well?
Do they usually record and stream at the same time? Or is there a certain feature name for that function?

All of this is answered in the specs for each camera, usually yes if they have audio they encode audio and video and send it to a webadress, quality will depend on the quality of the camera but also the quality and power of the wifi, 2.4Ghz can only transmit that much data so it will influence quality,5Ghz wifi can transmit more data for better quality but the range is much smaller which could cause disconnection issues, what you do to this stream afterwards is your business, you can re route it to youbute or record it to a drive or do both at once, depends on the hardware you connect to it, which could be a whole PC or some security type PVR.

Why do you need live broadcasts of funerals in your area?

Well if you saw the date the OP created this thread you'd know that Covid-19 restrictions didn't allow for in person funerals and such. Live-streaming was very popular.

Well if you saw the date the OP created this thread you'd know that Covid-19 restrictions didn't allow for in person funerals and such. Live-streaming was very popular.

Even without covid, most funerals are of old people that have old people wanting to attend but not being able to due to health issues, or just for friends and relatives that are too far away to travel.
