living room couch kb/mouse

I currently use some random logitech wireless keyboard+mouse, and it's not only large (full size), but using the mouse on the couch is a pain. I bought some lenovo hendheld keyboard+roller ball but it was pretty crappy.

Does anybody have experience with the logitech k400? it actually looks decently compact, but I'm not sure if I'm going to like the touchpad, or how durable it is (i.e. most laptop touchpads get greasy over time except ones covered with glass like apple's).

I have been interested in that keyboard too. I don't know anything about it, but I did see it on sale in a flyer this past weekend --- I just looked it up --- it's at best buy: http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/1193673/

By the way, logitech sells a "couch mouse" which is supposed to work on all surfaces, even cloth material, but strangely I have the logitech m510 and it does the same thing --- unfortunately, it doesn't work with any mousepads I try it doesn't matter if it's a cloth mousepad, or the kind specifically for optical mice. Also, it's pretty bad on cloth material too, so basically, I struggle to use it. I'm not the only one with this problem, I've seen some reviews with people having the same problem. I'm weary about the couch mouse because of the problem I have with the M510, but you never know.

Edit: according to this link, the price is up to 29.99 now. You might still be able to show walmart the ad and have them honor a price match.

I use this for my living room HTPC and it rocks. Perfect size and great range and response. In my bedroom I use a logitech dinovo mini.

Funny, I came in this thread to recommend the K400.

I use it for my HTPC, and honestly I love it. A few of the buttons are in different places than I would expect, so ocassionally I mis-type something, but overall its very solid. Love the trackpad, it works well.

Range is pretty good, I've noticed that if I plug it into the back of the PC it can be a little flaky, but theres a lot of electronics back there (PC, center channel, receiver, tivo, HD DVD player, ps3, etc).

If I move the receive to the front usb port, or use a usb extension cable to put it ANYWHERE else, the range improves dramatically. I can use it in another room without line of site and it still works perfectly (so I'm told, i can't see the screen).

No complaints here, the device, even with the touchpad, is slightly smaller than a normal keyboard, and because it lays flat, it is very portable. Pick one up!

EDIT: Just realized this thread is 2 months old...looks like the guy above me mini-necroed it....still, if anyone is interested, theres my opinion!

OP here: Newegg had a sale this week and I ended up with the K400 too. My older wireless kb/mouse (also logitech) was very picky about range/positioning, but I plugged the K400 in the rear USB ports, and it works great.
