I'm living in a suite next year with girls. Me and my roommate, then two of our female friends in the other room. Hope it works out :-/

I may be living with my buddy and 12 girls next semester (only one of whom do I know). If the girls and my friend go for it, I imagine it will be an interesting experience.

I've been living with 2 girls for the past year and a half. It's worked out great.

A had a few female roomies. One was a friend and one wasn't. It worked out overall, but man are they dirty as all hell.

Hmmm... lets see:

1. She is ALWAYS on the phone.
2. At least once a day, she opens her wardrobe, sits down on the bed, sighs, and says "I have no clothes". If you ever peek into her wardrobe, you'll notice that she has 10x as many clothes as you do.
3. Ditto for shoes.
4. She has weird/interesting/mysterious products from Bed, Bath & Beyond in the bathroom. Stuff you never ever knew existed. Then there's all the scented candles and potpourri around the apartment. This isn't all that bad, because your apartment will smell 10x better than your neighbor's bachelor pad.
5. She can hold down rum & coke like the best of them, but all it takes is a glass of wine to get her tipsy and talking.
6. If she comes back from a bad date, she'll expect ice-cream to automagically appear out of thin air. Then she'll go through half a tub of ben & jerry's while moaning about the date from hell. Then she'll give you a lecture about not keeping ice-cream at home because it makes people fat.
7. Don't EVER sleep with her.
8. Or her best friend. Unless she OKs it.
9. Once in a while, she'll put something on and ask you if it makes her look fat. If you haven't yet learned how to answer that question, you are going to learn the hard way.

George: prejudice much?
I am living with three males right now in what is called a "quad" (four bedrooms, each own bathroom and closet, shared living, kitchen, and utility rooms). After fighting with them for months on end to keep the dishes done and the refrigerator partially free of last year's rotted out food, I gave up when they had had dirty dishes in the sink for two months straight, and I got food poisoning from cleaning out one of the two and using a strainer in the clean side to drain some noodles I had made. I finally had to resort to calling the landlord, now the dishes are done maybe once a month...but I got my own fridge and microwave and just stay away from their cesspool. The pervasive smell makes me gag every time I go by the kitchen to go out the door.
I did not have a phone at all until a few weeks ago, and I am on it less then they are on theirs. I hear ringing all day and night, it never stops and they refuse to turn their ringers off or down. Despite being partially used to it, it still wakes me up quite often, and with me already having insomnia, that's bad.
I don't even like to see them let alone talk to them because at least one of them has stolen food from me, to date before I got my own room fridge it got up to $200ish worth. The same person has sold half the furniture in the common room that is owned by the rental agency. I have complained about it but therentla agency seems to not believe me.
They have lit insence(sp?) sticks sitting bare on top the countertop hanging over the trash and left the apartment. I was furious when I saw that, are they trying to start a fire?

It has little to nothing to do with the sex of the person, it has everything to do with the person, as my situation proves.

Not at all. The OP asked for people's experiences, and what I described was my personal experience with one roommate, not my generalization of an entire gender. Despite how my post came across, my experience was a highly positive one. She was one of my coolest no nonsense roommates, and if she hadn't graduated and moved across the country, I'd still be rooming with her.

Agreed x1000.

It's not bad living with girls as long as you know what the bathroom situation and kitchen situations are going to be.

If you use the kitchen, you better make sure both of them know how to wash and dry dishes and keep it clean. Some girls are slobs.

As for the bathroom....they have more stuff in the bathroom than anywhere and it takes them a lot longer to get ready. Some insist on standing in front of a mirror and sink while they get ready...even when they're just drying their hair. Just make sure their primping schedules don't get in the way of man bathroom time.

I lived with a girl once for a bit... it was originally me + her boyfriend (my best friend in college), but she eventually moved in with us. after a couple weeks, though, they broke up, he dropped out of school to move back home, and she and I just kept on living together.

not really much different than living with a guy... it smelled nicer and we stayed out of eachother's bathrooms. lol.

I had a female roommate several years ago and she was the biggest slob I have ever met in my life. Just an absolute waste of space as a human being. I actually think there are a few old threads on here where I complained about her.

My fiancee and I live together now and everything is great.

Sleeping with them is fine, just don't play favorites...sleep with them ALL! (preferably all at once!)

I feel your pain fellas. I live with my wife, have two daughters and two female cats AND growing up I lived with my mother and two younger sisters (mom and dad divorced). I always tell my wife that I was cursed. :frown:

In my experience living with one girl is fine so long as she isn't too nuts. Living with more than one will cause issues. One day they are BFF, the next they are fighting and bitching and saying they will never speak to each other again. Then back to BFF the day after. I can't stand that shit. Plus some can be very dirty. I have been lucky enough to live with clean ones though, and one cleaned in her bikini during the summer when it was hot out.

Lived with two for a while when I first moved to Seattle. It was pretty cool, then when I met my SO, I moved out a little while later. So only 6 months, fun while it lasted.

The main thing to keep in mind is that if there is more than 1 of them, make sure they get along most of the time. 2 women at odds in a household and you can cut the tension with a knife, believe me.

I've had bad experiences with both male and female roommates. Some people amaze me at how filthy they can let things get and not let it bother them. I'm far from OCD on that, but it can get pretty nasty. I've often joked about having said slobs live together to see who's pile of sh!t will take over the other's. I laugh now, but I hated it at the time.

I'll never have another female roommate that I'm not involved with, and of course that would be well after we've dated for a long time.

Nope, never again!
