llegal to get a used cd key?

I remember reading somewhere that you could share your World of Warcraft (Not expansion) cd key with others
(My cousin let me use his - also he's 18 so we can follow along with the minor/adult "you can use an account together" deal)

Does this apply to burning crusades?
Could I take his cd key and apply it to my game to install / upgrade my account?

You can't upgrade two accounts with the same CD key, it just wont work. You need one BC license for each account you want to upgrade.
