Feel free to correct me if I am wrong on anything, or else I would be a fool.
There are three main types of chips, Celeron, Pentium and A.M.D. There are no distinct differences between the three, just different brands, although, Pentium is the most widely known and is suported by most, if not all, software companies.
The chip's speed is measured in Megahertz (mhz) the more mhz the chip has, the faster it is.
There is a new standard of R.A.M. beginning sale this year, it is known as DDR2 which holds more data than normal DDR R.A.M.
DDR3 is also expected to go on sale in early 2007 which will be able to hold even more data than DDR and DDR2.
Yes, you got ripped off on your CPU, and yes your RAM is garbage. Replace both immediately.Originally posted by: gsethi

That means my AMD Athlon 64 3000+ running at 1.80Ghz (lets assume its not overclocked) is slower than an Intel Celeron 2.00Ghz.
According to the site, I got ripped off paying ~125 for my CPU
Just wondering on the pics:
Mobo shown is a Socket A board.
CPU is probably a Pentium era chip.
RAM shown is a laptop RAM.

OK...I should dump my 2GB DDR ram and get 128MB DDR2 ram then since ddr2 can hold more data, correct ??
