I heard on CNN last night that supposedly the government was upset about XP allowing users to delete data on their hard drives because it will make it harder for law enforcement... I think it's just a bunch of BS made up by ignoramus at CNN.

I'm pretty sure that they were talking about permanent deletion as opposed to the current system where it just tells the computer that it's OK to overwrite the files.

There are programs out there that can permanent delete stuffs for you, it's nice that XP offers it, but the FBI won't be too happy about it. Currently, a safe bet is put your hard drive into a fire and cook it, even then, some people can get data off disk that has been in a fire or water.

Actually, if you freeze them, (like -30 +) the platters will lose the data. Soooooo......go to a grocery store and throw one in the freezers. They are -20 Farenheit.
