I visited dibit.com and found a brand new DELL inspiron 8200 for $1200.
Here are the details on the item he is selling for $1200

All this for $1200? When I checked out the price from Dell.com, it came out to be about $4000 system.

When I asked him how he wants the payment to be made, he said western union or moneygram only. No credit cards.

He has 5 of these systems. If this is a real, I think it is real good deal but I am not sure whether I can trust this guy.

What do you guys think?

This is not a Hot Deal.

If I were you I'd ask for the serial number of the one he's going to supposedly sell you, and call Dell with it to find out its history...there ain't no one in there right mind who would be selling those laptops for 1200.

I did ask him about the serial number and offer COD for shiping/payment method and this is the response I got back from him.

Dear Mr. Kim,

This is my offer. Take it or leave it.

And why is this deal posted in the "hot deals" forum? Clearly, it isn't a hot deal ... or even a warm deal for that matter. If it truly is a $4,000 laptop for $1,200, then why not offer to fly to his location to pick it up. I'm sure you'd be able to get a cheap "round trip" ticket for about $400 to complete the transaction in person.

However, like the others have stated, he's not going to actually be selling a $4,000 laptop for $1,200. If that was the case, he would be over at EBay setting them up for sale. Heck, even with a "Buy it now" price of $2,000 - they would not last. People would buy them up right away.

I've got a bridge to sell. Like new, only $999.

Seriously though, this has SCAM written all over it.

Remember... If it's too good to be true... It usually is.

Sounds like a scam to me!

Total scam, he's either a carder selling stolen laptops or just planning on taking your money and giving nothing in return. Steer clear of this one for sure.

EDIT: that guy is not a carder, those sell their stuff on ebay for at least 50% of the item's true value.

Western Union or Moneygram only is usually a bad sign. A friend of mine got burned on ebay for a 1600.00 laptop, in a situation similar to this. There was no way to track down the money, so he basically got screwed. I'd steer clear if I were you.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this statement. But as for my friend, he was just a naive non-techie consumer, who, on his first purchase on ebay, learned the hard way about being scammed.

Please someone buy this! Then we could listen to you complain later about how you got ripped off and then we could tell you how much of an idiot you were to fall for this scam in the first place.
