I'm aware of him (I moved from Kansas, Kobach's been a problem for years). I didn't know of anyone that knew of him that didn't despise him, but conservatives still enabled him because he preyed on their fears and they are too ignorant to be informed of what him and the Republicans were doing until after they'd done it. Thankfully Kansans showed at least a modicum of sense and made sure he didn't become Governor.

Like I said in that thread about that white supremacist that was coordinating parts of the Nebraska governor's re-election campaign, conservatives in the midwest need to wake up to the fact that there are full blown white supremacists (that would absolutely enact Nazi type programs if given the chance) that they're enabling by their blind devotion to the Republican party.

Yes, but a lot of that has come because of a very concerted movement that seems to have grown from the US and England specifically (Bannon has a role in it, there's a lot of shit that seems to be indicating Bannon got majorly financed somehow after floundering for what decades, and then turned that into action via means that don't make sense for someone like Bannon - by that I mean weaponized data analysis and manipulation - that shit sure sounds like state level intelligence services and sorry but people like Peter Thiel don't have the clout on their own for it, nor do I think they have the money either; but a corrupt government like Putin's in Russia would).

Which perhaps its not even in person, and rather that the internet has coalesced that some. But I think Bannon rode a groundswell of unified white supremacists groups that started forming in the US after other places made it clear they would not tolerate that kind of shit. I think they saw the opportunity (Iraq War, financial crises, racial tensions) and saw a populace primed for it (the long history of racial issues in the US, evangelicals, the "American exceptionalism" myth - where Americans have this deluded belief that they're pre-ordained for greatness - its fueled lots of stuff in American history from Manifest Destiny land/resource theft, to the Mormon Church and other offshoots of religions many in the form of full on cults).

But I think it was Russian resources that turned it from the grassroots stuff into what it is today. There's a LOT of white supremacist related smoke these days, I'm just hoping we don't have a Reighstag fire brewing (like say, as part of an attempt to divert from massive corruption by a certain person in American politics?).

Notice how everything right wingers rage about these days they seem to end up being guilty of? Yeah so they've been really going hard on the conspiracy stuff (and a shitload of it includes Nazis); and if you look into things, there's some bizarre crusade/unholy land mentality that's going on with Russia and the Nazis and Soviets both had some similar weird obsession with it too; its more than just strategic for Russia, in that for Russians, the Ukraine specifically has connotations to Nazis; full stop, I'm getting the weird vibe that Putin is intentionally fomenting white supremacist shit in the West - while using the same ideology, but crafted as specifically super anti-Nazi at home; so he fans those flames elsehwere, while he leverages the same mentality with the extra anti-Nazi sentiment in Russia to maintain control over the Russian people, think how Stalin used similar ideology to the Nazis and yet they hated each other but they also both kinda needed each other to justify the means they were resorting to; basically Putin has used this Nazi boogeyman, but at some point he needs there to be something legitimate behind it or the people will start to see through his bullshit but if he were to be able to point to the US/West having a very real Nazi problem, it would validate everything he's said and done; and he'd be untouchable to the point that Russians would die to defend him specifically from probably the only country in the world that might be able to hold him accountable and it has the bonus of creating chaos in those places).
