Celebrating that people aren't discriminated because of their sexuality and raising awareness that some places you'll get the dead penalty for being homosexual?

This year our government made lesbian moms get equal parenthood, made it legal for homosexuals to get a wedding in a church (not just a ceremony as earlier) and for transsexuals to get a legal sex change.

But still we hear about people being attacked (also in Denmark) for no other reason than that their gay.

One of my main reasons for being political active is for people to be able to live the life they want and not being discriminated because of their sexuality, religion or color. And as long you hear about this I will do what I can to help stop it.

I disagree on the gay marriage in church thing. It goes against church dogma, so why go on their sacred place and annoy them?

I am definitely for gay marriage, but the church wedding thing is overreaching.

Then divorcees need to be excommunicated. The church has modernized and changed over the millennia. The way things used to be arguments are tired and trite.

I don't give a fat flying fuck if your gay, but when your flamboyant about it and want to be married in a house of God I have a problem. Get married in a court house and shut the fuck up!

I go to a Lutheran church and there are many married gay couples in the congregation. One married gay couple has a son who plays with my triplets at sunday school. If Indiana strikes the ban then they deserve to get married there the same way you do.

if your not OK with that then you should give up your rights before excluding others and see how you feel....

thanks for identifying yourself.

divorcées do need to be excomunicated, or they can switch to Henry VIII church :awe:

Why are you so keen on getting married in a church that consider gay relationships a sin?

And remember there is such a thing as religious freedom.

Getting married in a church is nowhere near a right.

no but if the congregation is willing and a surprising number are then its their right to worship including being married as part of their worship of the lord.

I believe SDI's point was that the application of the Force of Law upon a(ny) religious organization in order to enforce an outside point of view {*LGBT Right To Marry, in this case*} upon said organization is Over Reaching the usual bounds. Which I choose to read along the lines of "Separation Of Church And State Is A Two Way Street".

i.e. - If a Minister and Congregation are willing to perform the marriage ceremony, then God Bless. If Not, then the Government is not entitled to force them to do it.

In this case: We already know the Lutheran Church don't prevent LGBT marriage on their sanctified ground. So that's a moot point. Rather, the Government can not force - say a Catholic, Muslim, or other fundamentalist church - to perform the ceremony against their wills.

Remember that our church is financed through taxes and is therefore a state church. Priests who believe it's not right can choose not to perform the ceremony. Private religious societies are not affected by the law.

Good for you, but my point was about the churches that don't care to perform gay marriage ceremonies because it is against their religious teachings. They should not be legislated into performing gay marriage ceremony.

That clears things up. For the US, I agree with SDIfox's sentiment.
Along those very same lines, I'd see any nonprofit benefits taken from churches that meddle in politics.
Tit for tat.

I find it interesting that you seem to imply funding has influence on religious belief. But then I am not Danish so what do I know. It does seem to be a workable compromise.

Sad that people need to feel pride/acceptance from others.

Just be yourself and anyone that doesn't like it can go fuck themselves.
right after they get done beating you to death because they outnumbered you that night.

I'm pretty sure that most churches preach what those who fund them want to hear.

Overall I would say that faith, play a much larger role in US than Denmark, so it's only a hot topic for the most religious people en Denmark, which are very few.
