I just got a new harddrive and was finishing installing a fresh copy of windows 2000 on it. In the course of adjusting using X-setup I, stupidly, changed the "RAS checkbox automatically selected in your login window" to true and since I have that service disabled, I get an error on login that says, "remote access service can not be started, see your event log for details", and returns me to the log in screen. I tried safe mode but I get the same thing. All I need to do is change
"HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\RasForce"
to false and I should be able to login again. I still have my old harddrive attached and can boot into windows 2000 on that disk. Can I access that registry key on my new harddrive and change it from the old harddrive, and how do I go about doing that?
Thanks for helping this moron out:disgust:.
