Hi guys. I'm having problems with my trusty 1.0 Athlon, 512m ram, windows 98 machine.
I think I might have an electrical problem, or maybe a bad hard drive. Please help me think of what to do...
It always ran like a top when I just had my 40G WD Hd in there, but ever since I slaved an 80G to it for storage, my pc has run sluggish. (I formatted the 80G as one big storage drive, no partitions)
So then, a few months ago, I was having some electrical problems in my house, including arcing on the circuit. I had it plugged into a regular power strip with it's own circuit breaker. I guess this saved my pc. Anyway, The circuits were fixed, but ever since then, I seem to lock up and have to reboot more. My dvd player doesn't work at all, and my cdrw only works 1 in 10 times now if I want to burn a cd.
Ok, would you recommend that I change the power supply? Could it have been damaged? Or could it be a bad motherboard now? Or should I try returning the 80G hd, maybe that's the problem.
I will check back later, thanks for anyone who takes the time to read this and reply.
