So I just started doing Starting Strength and I'd like to keep a log of my progression, and I was wondering what you guys used to keep track of everything. I've just been using excel, but it's kind of hard to add notes and when adding things like cardio stats it's just not quite as nice. So, what do you guys use? I was thinking maybe it's not that important overall because all I really need to know is how the past week went to decide how the next week should go, but it'd be kinda nice to look back a year from now and have an easy way to see how much I've improved.

I just keep a workout journal on this message board. You can format it however you want, it's easily searchable, and people can make comments/suggestions.

Ah yeah I think I'm going to just use a .doc and keep adding to it.

as a side question: what protein powder stuffs do you guys recommend? I saw another thread where people were comparing isolate vs concentrate and whatnot, and I had no idea what was going on... I would just like something effective, cheap and goes well with milk

I've been using a .doc with blanks for warm up and work sets.

As far as protein, I really like Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey.
Amazon, dpsnutrition.com, and vitaglo.com are pretty close in price. Shipping was $0.99 from Amazon for 2 5lb containers on my last order.

This.

I however use the Pro Complex instead of the regular Whey. It's basically the same thing with more protein per scoop (30g vs. 24g), more BCAA's, and a few less servings per canister (a little more calorie dense too).

+1 for Optimum Whey

Optimum Casein Whey for bedtime for me also.
