Nice deal, too bad I just bought another Logi dual optical on clearance at BB! I was going to wait on the MX500 or the MX700, but just couldn't pass up the deal on a mouse that has been so good to me...

Sweet, I keep getting great mouse deals on here. Bought my current iFeel MouseMan cheap too...

Is this thing comfortable. I don't really like the way the Mouseman's wheel is harder to spin than MS mice...The mouse itself is also slightly large and too tall for my hand and desk placement. How's this one?

I rather like the feel - better even than the MX700. But it's always personal preference. Your best bet is probably to go to Staples or Office Max or CompUSA where they have several sitting out on display that you can play with.

Good luck.

Damn, tough decision. I already have the Logitech Dual Optical, should I go for this one? Is it really that much better?

I already have one MX500 and went for one more on this deal instead of the MX700 because mouse cords has never bothered me. I think the mouse is more confined by the mouse pad rather than the cord, and I didn't want to have to remember to put the mouse in the charger everynight.

Btw, this is a great mouse, every bit as precise as any ball-mouse I ever used, the "back" button is the best creation ever on a mouse, and those "cruise up, cruise down" functions are useless (basically duplicating the wheel functions) but when remapped to "close window" and minimise window" -- they aren't too bad.

Definitely worth buying, I'm getting another for my laptop. Switched from a Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, big difference.

For those of you that buy and have difficulty with the drivers, I ended up using the latest MS Mouse software (4.1) and just selecting the Intellimouse Explorer. It uses direct input... so the 5 main buttons work in games. Doesn't if you use the Logitech drivers.

I got the MX700 for $36 during that OD deal...great mouse....heavy though..I might want to sell it and get the MX500. I read in a review that the MX500 is the best mouse to get for hardcore gaming. The accuracy on the MX700 is perfect.....heavy..but perfect.

Just got an e-mail from Amazon that mine has shipped - should hopefully be here tomorrow (KY->MD)!

I did use the free shipping option which predicted that it wouldn't be sent out until Nov 18th or somesuch. I've normally had good luck with that - it may be a day or two longer than regular ground but not on the order of a week or more.

I am looking forward to some sweet gaming with it (GR Island Thunder, baby!). This will be my first optical and my old ball mouse is getting tiresome...

Unlike MS mice, Logitech mouse devices simply don't "go bad". They'll get dirty and you throw them away. I've never heard of a single Logitech mouse being recalled.

The only common complaint is with Logitech MouseWare software to program the buttons, but that is partially a personal thing. Some people are accustomed to features in the MS software, and expect Logitech to clone the IntelliMouse.

Out of about 8 Logitech mice (all used a great deal) I have had one stop working. I called their support number to get a RMA, shipped mine back and had a shinny new retail packaged replacement a few weeks later.

I picked one up yesterday. I have a few MS(Explorers and cheapo), but I'm looking forward to trying it out based on the reviews.

I went with the corded version, but the MX700 for $49 after MIR seems like a good deal too.

Ok - I my MX500 just arrived, but I haven't connected it yet. I've heard all about the driver problems and was wondering what is the best approach (I'm using Win 2k). I will be using it for games. These are the two workarounds I've heard:

1) Find and install the MS Mouse software (4.1) as tazdevl suggested and select Intellimouse explorer (Does this mean not using the Logitech disc at all?) - Oh, and I read that this reduces the dpi from 800 to 400. Is this true? If so, is there a noticable effect on tracking?

2) Installing the Logitech mouseware, but disabling the scroll wheel. Then re-enabling it using Tweak. What's the downside of this?

Which method do most people use and recommend?

I also read something about a registry hack - can anyone supply details for that?

Thanks!

i got my MX700 from Amazon, this must have been the fasting shipping I've ever gotten from Amazon. Order it on the 5th and got it on the 7th, using the Free Saver Shipping method.

i'm using it right now, still trying to get use to it though, but definitely feels pretty good.
