I have Windows XP Professional and am wondering if I can change the login sound to an mp3 or song. Any suggestions?

I think there is a way to do that under your sound scheme.

I'm inclined to agree TechITGuy - only sound-wave format supported internally by Windows is WAV, others would assume programs/extensions were installed to play them.

Your choices are pretty limited.

Either use a 3rd party converter to convert your sounds to WAV's
Look for a 3rd party utility that can hook the windows events to play your sounds
Suppress the login sounds and have a login script that ran a program to play sound in another format.

Ok. How do you make a .wav as a login/logout sound?

Control panel > sounds and audio devices > scroll down to start up > browse to your specific file.

You'll need to convert your MP3' to WAV format before Windows will play them - there are loads of free/share/commercial software converts that can perform this task for you.
