Logistics of travel - wanting freedom to go anywhere when I get there

Just curious, to those whom might know - if you planned on traveling for a decently long duration, would/could it make sense to purchase a cheap car (I realize that you'd have to worry about it breaking down on you, etc.) instead of constantly renting? Is that even possible?

All of them allow this ... you only have 90 days depending on the country though, per passport/visa rules.

The word "Developing" was only used in the context of driving a car. Of course already, you've implied that it already sucks to drive in Asia in general ,just sucks more in developing countries.

The first part of the post is completely unmodified, and it is clear you are saying that all of Asia is a shithole, when South Korea and Japan have infrastructure that is more robust, developed, and more advanced than Americas most developed cities.

And what about kickbacks from cops? Are you traveling exclusively to triad controlled villages in China?

Funny that you mentioned the 'stan republics.

Over the weekend, I watched a show on the local PBS and it was showing Kazakhstan (the largest of the former Soviet republics). I was impressed with that country, very modern looking and happy folks. I would not mind to make a trip over there sometimes.

I would love to travel to all countries around the world, with the exception of a few because of civil wars/unrest.

Many on my list, I would not considered to be third/fourth world.

However for the quoted post to claim that many many countries in Asia are first world is a stretch.

Same could be said about most US states. Every drive in Texas? Its a freaking warzone on those highways except the soldiers are mostly overweight and driving in cars that have no business being that large.
