Got my two sets yesterday, the delivery guy brought a big logitech box. Inside that, two brand-new sealed retail box sets.

Happy with it so far.

That's what I got. Maybe the key was buying two and then you got the Logitech box with the sealed keyboard sets?

Well I got mine today. It looks like its been opened before, but everything still looks new. Time to install it and make sure everything works.

I got mine today. Both the mouse and KB look great. Brand new everything.
The only problem is that the i-touch software for the KB doesnt work very well. The help files show an interface with much many options than mine xomes up with. I even downloaded an update from the website. No consequence. So, I cant use all the hotkeys very well

Anybody else have this problem?

I own the cordless freedom optical set.

Concerning the differences, heh I already did a search a long time ago. Basically, take a look at the enter key

For those worried about the mouse life, I had the same problem except my mouse lasted only 2 weeks. I called into Logitech support, sent them a few proof of purchases and had them replace my mouse. I recieved my mouse on 12/08/02 so far the mouse has been strong. I'll try to keep you guys updated on how long these mouse last. BTW I use my mouse rigorously. Nearly 12 hours a day straight. I hope this mouse lasts me about 6 weeks. I'd be satisfied with that. My sister has the cordless freedom optical too. She says her mouse worked for 2 months. Hmmm. She bought her set about four months after mine. I bought my set 5 months ago. Hope this info is of some help.

EDIT: Well I don't want to bump this thread since there's no new information but I will reply to some questions asked. The enter key on the freedom optical is just long. The enter key on the elite keyboard is in the fat L shape.
The batteries in the keyboard have lasted me 5 months and they're still running so I don't know when they will run out.
My mouseman optical just started complaining about low batteries today. 10 days folks. The replacement Logitech sent me does not seem to be working.

Out of curiousity, does anyone know any difference between the Cordless Freedom Optical and the Cordless Elite Duo? The logitech site doesn't seem to have much comparison between the two.
There are a few differences, but they are minor. The most noticeable one IMO is that the mouse on the Elite Duo is black and silver instead of gray and silver. The keyboard has a few slight differences. The one that I was most interested in was that the Elite Duo keyboard only uses 2 "AA" batteries instead of 4. The keyboard for the Elite Duo set lights up when the shift lock key is depressed. You can also program the F1-F12 keys on the Elite Duo with the Logitech software.

Very minor differences if you ask me. Using less batteries appeals to me, but I wonder if you have to change those 2 batteries twice as often or if Logitech worked on the power management system for the keyboard?

BTW.. I have the Freedom Cordless Optical set and I was wondering how long the batteries typically last in the keyboard. I've only had the set for a month and so far, so good for the keyboard and the mouse. My old Logitech Mouseman (separate) mouse did eat batteries, but this one doesn't seem to. A friend has an older Logitech cordless keyboad and he says that he hardly ever changes the batteries in it. What are your experiences with battery life on the cordless keyboards?

color differences, firmer media buttons, function keys has more labels, start button also has apple button design, renaming of hot keys, and batteries. i like the look of the cordless optical freedom better therefore i wont upgrade. (besides i want the cordless elite keyboard in combo with the MX700.. that would be sweet).

That's the upgrade I just did. I'm using the Freedom Optical keyboard with the MX700 mouse. Why not.. I paid $20 AR for my Freedom Optical set and $37.99 after rebate for the MX700. I didn't want to mention it because this is a Elite Duo thread. I like the MX700 mouse much better than the Mouseman. It's more precise, feels better to the hand and I love the charging cradle. Replacing batteries, even rechargeables, got to be a pain with my old Mouseman mouse.

Hey what are you guys using for the receipt? On the rebate form, it says the "receipt with purchase price and date circled", so should I use my order confirmation from Buy.com? I usually use the packaging invoice, but the purchase price and date isn't on it.

You don't use the packing slip. You have to manually go to your account in buy.com and print out the receipt from there. Hope that helps - it should've.

Just got my 2 pack. Both appear unopened and the boxes are in excellent condition. They arrived in a Logitech box that coincidentally holds two units. An earlier post mentioned that Buy.com is not a great e-tailer. I just want to put in my bump for them because I got mine in less than 2 days. I ordered after midnight on Monday and just got it this morning. Granted I live in So.Cal. where they have a warehouse. Also, another reason I like them is that a friend bought a digicam from them, it was delivered to his office with UPS getting someone's signature but someone in the mail room "lost" it. Buy.com had no obligation whatsoever but they stepped up and sent him a replacement free of charge. That's truly amazing.

My only problem now is that I have 2 sets of Elite Duos' plus my current Freedom Optical set, and a Logitech Elite wired keyboard that I got for $17.50 from Staples. So many keyboards, so few hands.
