Logitech G Series vs Other

I am looking for a new mouse. I have been using the Logitech Performance MX for a while now, and I love the large and tall design, but after many, many hours of use, the buttons are getting too slow and hard to press. I heard good things about the Logitech Gaming Series, mainly about the G500 and the G9X. I am thinking about getting the G500, because it has almost the same design as the MX, and also includes something I would like to have in my mice, a weight tray and wired connection, as I feel I am always getting too much latency from wireless models, such as the MX. I was wondering if I should go and purchase the G500, or buy a different mouse?

All I know is that I have the Razer Taipan gaming mouse and its ok for gaming with a good design for me.

However, the razer synapse software sucks and should be avoided. I say stick with logitech for the most part.

I heard that Synapse was terrible, I tried to stray away from Razer.

I'm not a big fan of razer software either. I don't like idea of storing presets on a cloud. With that said G500 is good mouse. If you don't need all additional buttons go G400s. I personally think G400 is their best mouse.

I've had a Razer Naga for since release and have had no problems with Synapse. But I don't really use it past setting the LEDs to off and forgetting about it.

I used to have a MX518, which the G400 replaces. I liked the MX518's optical sensor over the laser sensor on the G500 that I now use. I'm not sure why, but mouse movements has always felt a bit odd for me with the laser.

I'm kinda stuck with the G500 for now, even though I would like to try the G400. I just don't want to give up the third thumb button. I use it for media play/pause, since my "upgrade" to a Rosewill mechanical keyboard left me without any media function keys.

I used to have a G9 as well. The interchangeable grips are nice, if you're into that, but since I used a finger grip, it didn't make any difference for me, so I sold it.

I currently have several products from both Logitech (1 wheel, 1 joystick, 2 mice, 3 keyboards) and Razer (1 mouse, 3 keyboards, 1 game pad) that get very heavy usage. Plus I've had older products in the past. Both have pro's and cons.

Razer's software/firmware goes in spurts. Their more "basic" products have far less issues. It doesn't seem to be Synapse itself (which has gotten much better and I actually like the cloud portion) as all their products use the same application and I only have issues with certain products. For example I've had ZERO issues with my Razer Naga with probably a thousand hours of usage on it. I mostly use the side buttons as a plain numpad, but I've done macro's too. They've always worked fine. My Deathstalker on the other hand has been flakey since day one. No mechanical issues. Key's will randomly soft "stick" meaning fail to send a release command until you press something else. This includes the touchpad. The touchpad only loads it's wallpaper maybe 75% of the time. The backlighting has forgotten it's color settings a couple of times. But those are just annoyances. Annoyances you shouldn't have to deal with on a premium priced product, but annoyances none the less.

My Logitech's on the other hand.... While I think their software is a bit outdated and bloated, I've had little to no issues with it. I've done a pretty substancial amount of macro setups on my G13 and it's worked flawlessly. Some of their older products require an older version of their software which doesn't work with their newer products. However the finish on every backlit Logitech product I have owned has worn off 10x faster than any of my Razer products (faster than my Saitek Eclipse too). I consider that more than an annoyance. The finish across the board on my Razer products looks and feels better than the Logitech products IMO.

If I Were to choose between the G500 and G9x, I would go with G9x maybe because I like the design better. I have the G600 and I'm in no thinking of getting G9X but I have tried it when I purchased the G600 and frankly I was puzzled what to buy. I chose G600 primarily because it is on sale that day. haven't really heard seen G500 personally but I love what others have to say about it.

Yeah, but I would like a wired mouse over a wireless. Plus, the price tag is a little too high for what it is.

I've only used my G9x since converting to PC gaming, and I love that freaking mouse!

I'm a big fan of Logitech's mice, both for their design and the software, which I find is the easiest to use and has the most configuration options.

I used the Dell TactX mouse for awhile (basically an Alienware version of the G9x), and I liked the design but had to use the Alienware software to configure it (crappy) and it has the stupid TactX/G9x issue where the clickwheel gets very difficult to press. Otherwise a stellar mouse.

I've gone back to my trusty old MX518 (works great with latest Logitech software!!) and a logitech G300 mouse, which is pretty decent. I'm looking at the new G500S with envy; maybe when the price comes down I'll bite!

You really can't go wrong with Logitech's gaming mice.

liking the G500s
- my 9x started to double click ,
-a bit miffed at first not being able to select a game profile ,but having a g13 I have to build a profile for every game ,once linked the auto select seems to work 100%.
-turned out better than I expected.
-even on the desktop having the third thumb button is nice fwd,back,close app.

My recent g500 doesnt even come close to any of the razers I owned or my worn out 518.

Love my current G700 and loved my previous G9 for the 4 years I had it.
I'm not a fan of the G series product software though, had some issues with it and my G700 so I just saved my profiles on the mouse itself and deleted it.
Couldn't be happier.
