I need a new keyboard and thinking of getting that for home office and gaming use.

What do you think of it?

I absolutely love it. Except for the fact that it seems to get dirtier quicker, but other than that, it's absolutely wonderful.

I just happened accross your thread and thought you might be interested in reading a thread I made here in Peripherals, as I was strongly considering the G15 too.

Yes, I use them A LOT. I am trying to get my work to buy these keyboards, for those keys on the left. I work in dispatch, and they would be infinitely useful. But yes, I use them in games, as well as during normal use of my computer....

I love it.

Key features that made the keyboard best for me:
-Central "media center" control (volume, next track, play, pause, etc.)
-LCD screen (compatible with Ventrilo, allows me to see who's talking when I'm in a full screen program)
-Backlit keys (nice for doing things in the dark, plus it looks awesome; switch to dim or disable the lights as well)
-Toggle switch to disable the Windows key (awesome for anyone who's ever accidently hit it while in a game)
-"G Keys" for shortcuts and macros (ability to record macros on the fly, especially awesome for common phrases like BRB and AFK, or slash-commands in programs)
-Two USB ports (though only USB 1.1)

In short, it's an excellent keyboard, and well worth the money. I actually use the G Keys all the time for things like /target blah-blah-blah in World of Warcraft, or yTextMessage<enter> in Counter-Strike: Source. I believe you can also set them to open programs and more complex tasks. The buttons above the G keys toggle different sets of the keys (three in total), so you actually have 3 sets of 18 G keys to assign at any given time.

I used to have a G15 and I hated it (now sold).

- The keyboard is far too large and wastes desk space
- The keys are laid out to fair requiring excessive stretching to hit keys (very bad for FPS gaming)
- The macro keys on the left are a waste of space. Who uses macro's except for work? Maybe for WoW... Personal choice there.
- The LCD screen is fun for a little while but takes your attention away from the screen, waste of time IMO.

Have a look at the Saitek Eclipse II for a good keyboard.

I have one and at this point I've ignored installing the Logitech software, because I was tired of having 5 executables running for just the keyboard! I may eventually reinstall and limit the functionality of the LCD. I never use the Macro keys though.. just never had a use for them. I tried them once to hotkey heals in WoW, but I prefer just using my number keys as I tended to push the wrong one way too often .

I've been using one since they came out. I love mine. I don't really use programmable F-Keys but I do use the Multi-media display and LCD screen (For Ventrilo) all the time. It's extremely comfortable to use and works great. It is a wide keyboard, but it still fits in my keyboard tray with no problems.

Theres a whole bunch of LCD applets out there that make this thing amazing. I can play a game and see my MSN messages, System Stats(CPU usage, memory used etc)

The feel of the keys is really to my liking too. Best purchase ever!

My friend has one and it's absolutely amazing. He bought one but the keys were messed up so Newegg sent him a new one! He might be trying to fix the broken one though...

Anyways, there are so many functions and the LCD screen actually is pretty useful. I'd buy one if they weren't so expensive...

They are nifty but two serious issues! The software is lacking and needs too many TSR's and (by far) the fit and finish is quite lacking. Just after a few months of everyday use the keys are wearing through letting blue light come through. :| Logitech keyboards aren't very well made IME.

The CoolerMaster KB looks quite nice.

Ok I love it and the only problem i hvae with it is the quickmacro changing of the G keys.. the button keeps getting stuck.. im sure its a isolated incident just coz i hhavent heard anything abt them.. but yeah im just gonna get it replaced .. but yeah well worth the money... I use the screen for ventrillo and CS:S its decent specially the performance screen really helpful...

I love mine, though I am too lazy to ever bind my G keys for anything. Love the little media centre area though and the fact I can see the keys when I play in the dark.

I have a G15 and I like it. I don't use the keys on the left, and I don't use the LCD display right now but it's because I am a anal person who wants to conserve RAM. It is a very nice keyboard, but if you are turned off by the price, it is probably for the best not to buy it.
