5) not worth the $80 at best buy I paid

all in all a nice keyboard, but Id wait a few months till the second round of drivers came out, the hot keys, and lcd software are rather buggy IMO

definitely not the best route for the asrock dual 939 sata board

Motherboard incompatability is not likely considering it gets it's info from WINDOWS performance manager, not your motherboard. So that would be an issue with the software, which BTW there is an update for currently.

I picked up one of these a few days ago at a CUSA sale ($60). Had to push my monitor back by about an inch, but it fits pretty well. The LCD concept is great but the software/drivers still need some work and tend to hog the memory. I mainly got it for the backlight and extra keys though, and I needed to buy a USB keyboard anyway to remove the multiple keystroke limitations in games. The windows key disable feature is also quite useful.

One thing I noticed is that there is hardly any difference between the brightness settings. Is this normal? I don't care too much since this level looks comfortable for nighttime use, but want to make sure there is nothing wrong with my G15. Also, is it possible to dim the LCD backlight? It looks too bright in the dark at either of the brightness settings. I'm not using it much anyway so I just close it up, but it would be nice to just have it dimmer.

wow i really like this keyboard but 70 $ is too much right now . waht is the arm rest made out of? is it plastic? also post pics of yours

It's some kind of plastic, but has a slightly rubbery feel. It seems to be the same thing used on the sides of the MX510 and probably other Logitech mice.

Yeah, you aren't buying this thing to use it's arm rest, get a good gel one and toss the included one, it's crap, as are most attached wrist rests.

My review

The black matt Vynal / silver mix makes for one very elegant looking piece of kit. The keys are soft with good travel yet doesn't have the 'squish' at the bottom of the key travel as some boards do. No negatives here at all, not spectacular but nothing to complain about.

The blue backlighing in the keys is nothing short of perfect. My son has a backlit keyboard link and next to it the minimalist look of the G15 character illumination exudes a whole new level of class.

The two USB ports along the top are greatly appreceated. I use one for the G7 receiver and the other spare for now.

One big down side is that the rear legs are no where near tall enough. Even raised the keyboard is flat. For me I want the rear to be 1-2 cms higher than the front (It's a big board) so with the help of mr drill and 10 minutes I re-engineered them so that when extended they raise the back a full 2cm.

The Lcd screen just screams to be used. With LCDStudio Link I have it displaying an analogue clock in the middle, IP's of both my nics & Winamp Equaliser to the left, FRAPS, freemem and bandwith graphs on the right. You can have multiple LCD programs running at once so by pressing the little black select button below the display I can cycle through other screens I've loaded. The other one I use a lot shows all the temps and frequencies which is handy when fooling around with overclocking or sussing out temps under load without having to alt-tab to MBM mid game. All in all the LCD is a useless device that grows in importance with out you realising.

Media controls work great with everything except WinAmp... Itunes, WMP... everything else works great... come on winamp devs get with the program! Hell even PRAPS has built G15 LCD support directly into their latest version!

I've yet to take advantage of the macro keys but damn these things are going to be sooooooooooo handy. Now I can have ALL my BF2 commands under my left hand. And can anyone say "buy script" for CS Source..

Anyhow after two weeks this has become one of those rare items that improves with age. The more I use this the more the $109 spent was worth every penny. What ever Buyer's Remorse is well this is the opposite.

PS: throw the wrist rest away, I've yet to find one that was ever of any use.

It does work with winamp but you have to enable the hotkeys in the winamp preferences. After that it works just fine

Here are some pictures when I got the keyboard just when it came out.
(the quality is not so good...took the pictures with my cell phone when it was pretty dark...)

You forgot to turn on global hotkeys, after you turn on global hotkeys the media buttons work fine in WinAmp.

Is that a settings inside winamp or the G15, because I don't remember anything like that in the G15.

Thanks,

Edit: Nevermind I just read a little farther back and answered my own question.

I use an older Belkin Kvm switch that only has ps2 ports. I have been looking around online but I'm not sure if the little green thingy ps2 to usb adaptor will power this. Any ideas on how to get this to work with my old school kvm switch?

As part of the process of building my new computer, I bought the G15 today. There's only one store in Singapore that appears to be selling it (some sort of exclusive I was told, but I didn't crawl all over Sim Lim Square to find out if that was true). I hooked it up to my current computer to get used to it.

So far I like it. The backlighting is nice looking and the keys have a good feel to them. I'm not a touch typest, but years of typing have built in habits like shift is on the far left. Since the G keys are there, I'm having to get used to where the keys actually are on this.

I'm trying to figure out what email program it is hooking into to tell me how many mail messages are waiting. It says 2, but that isn't the case with Hotmail (I have MSN Messenger running) not my Outlook account.

I picked up the G5 mouse today as well. All my serious gaming friends told me that they prefer mice with wires. Right now it mainly is not having to deal with batteries from what I can tell.

I'm going to go explore the net and see what goodies there are out there for the G15 now that it has been out a little while.

I'm considering getting one since it now has Ventrillo (voice chat) support for the LCD portion.

I've never had anything but the standard cheapo dell keyboards.

Am I going to have to start being more careful how much food I let get into a keyboard like this one? My current old keyboards have quite a bit of crap in them.

I received this keyboard for Christmas and I love it. I havn't installed the LCD software yet but, the backlight in awsome (this is coming from a Saitek Eclipse) and FOR ONCE! the Num Lock/Caps Lock/Scroll Lock lights are the perfect brightness (i.e. not too bright), set off in a corner, and a different color from the rest of the keyboard. The chedder key swich is nice when playing games too. I'll work on some pictures soon.

Edit: Spelling of Saitek

does anyone happen to know if Winamp will get support for the play/stop/forward keys? Also what are those keys above the keys i previously talked about. There are four of them...two on each side. Just curious. I love my keyboard so far...but just wanted to see what else is out there mod wise and for winamp support. Thanks!

Those keys above the media control keys are used for the lcd. Some plugins have different screens and you can switch between them with those keys. LCD studio 2.0 can let you custimoze the screen, and it has built in support for winamp ie showing whats playing and things like that. you can get it atlcdstudio.com

I've had this keyboard for a few months now and the black paint on the numpad 2 key is starting to wear off a little. It's not all that noticeable yet but may get worse over time. Is it possible to get any replacement keys or something like that from Logitech?
