I certainly trust the members of Anandtech Hot Deals a lot more than high volume forums such as Fatwallet and Slickdeals. Seems a few people over there simply don't want this to be true, without real substantiation, or even any personal anecdotes. They probably have a lot of people worried over nothing.

Anyway, I've called twice, you've called once... that's enough for me. And the online Amazon.com invoice makes absolutely no mention of TigerDirect.

Well, I want to give the G5 some time before passing judgement. The 1st "con" IMHO is the tilt scroll wheel. In COD2 the middle click throws a frag grenade. Unfortunately, it is much easier to click sideways (scroll) than click in the center. The only way I found to be consistent with grenades was to set all three wheel clicks (left, right, center) to throw a grenade.

The settings for each game seem to have to be done in the logitech software. This was not the case with the MX518. There is probably a way around this, but I just have not found it yet. I will go and try to find some reviews of the G5 to save myself figuring out all the bugs on my own.

I will say the ultra fine control is awesome for sniping, but the fastest response time is so fast it literally makes me sick to watch. (A643700, 2GB PC3200 2-3-2-5, BFG NV6800GTOC)

One of the earlier posts gave a link to a user-modded version of the software for the G5. It lets you set each button (including each direction of the tilt wheel) to any function you like. I have clicking the tilt wheel set as buying stuff in CS:Source, left-tilt selects grenades, and right-tilt is blank at the moment. i'm sure you could reset the frag grenade in CoD2 to a different button that would make it easier

I think this deal is dead. I called Logitech this morning and they told me it (G7) was a Amazon rebate. I then called Amazon and they said that they could not honor this rebate because it was shipping from Amazon (it was shipping through TigerDirect). I went in circles with them and one of them was being stupid making stuff up. I called back and they said some machine "checks" the rebates and it would see it came from another vender (TigerDirect) and told me they would not honor it. I think it is a load of crap... I was really looking forward to this mouse. Oh well...

Wow, I gotta throw another :beer: to the OP. Ordered late wendesday, mouse arrived at 1pm today.. pretty sick mouse, didn't realize just how sloppy my ms intellimouse explorer was. I want to spend a few more days before passing judgement, on the G7.. but right now I am pretty impressed.

My g7 just came after ordering on Wednesday. I bought thru Amazon but it was fulfilled by Tigerdirect (TD). Not surprisingly the packing slip is from Tigerdirect without mention of Amazon anywhere.

I called the Logitech fulfillment center (866-533-6880) twice. First guy I talked to could only read off the procedure prompt to check the rebate status and wasn't able to answer any question regarding the validity of this rebate if fulfilled by TD. Second guy I talked to assured me that this is not a problem and the rebate is valid. So I guess the answer is rep depedent.

According to the language on the rebate, there are 4 criterias that must be fulfilled to recieve rebate.

1. must be purchased at amazon.com (which I did and have an invoice with amazon order# for proof).

2. purchase between 3/14-3/20 and request postmarked by 4/20 (done)

3. Mail this form along with the original UPC code from the product package and a copy of the receipt with the eligible product circled. (noticed it only said receipt and not packing slip. Therefore the invoice form I printed off Amazon.com qualifies as a form of receipt).

4. send above items to address listed on rebate (done).

Going strictly by the contractual language on the rebate form, I don't think they have any grounds to reject my claim.

Anyways, hope this helps others with their own internal risk assessment on the risk and benefits of this deal.

Amazon free shipping is quite amazing. They shipped with UPS Ground, and ordered Thursday, processed it that day and shipped out. This afternoon (friday), it arrives!! Amazing. Free shipping ... more like 24 hours shipping.

Now I pray that the rebate works, or else this was all for nought.

*by the way, the mouse performs superb! I can see a difference with the sensitivity, CS 1.6 proves it. And it truly is bulletproof, never loses connection.

Regarding the weight of this G7, the weight is equivalent to a MX510... I'm not sure about the 518, but I'm sure its about the same weight as the MX510.

I think you're being misled by people with no idea what they're talking about. Amazon have nothing to do with this rebate. In fact Logitech have nothing to do with this rebate. Logitech outsource the rebate program to a fulfillment center based in Niagara Falls (866-533-6880). It is this fulfillment center that verfiy and eventually approve or deny rebate claims. These fulfillment centers act as an underwriter of sort. They come up with an estimate of expected # of rebate request based on statistics. They charge Logitech a certain amount based on the expected # so if the actual requests are lower than expected, they pocket the difference.

So please don't waste your time dealing with irrelevant parties. The only people you should be calling is the fulfillment house, their # is on the rebate and listed above.

Have the MX-1000, I like the G7's weight and responsiveness. The MX-1000 us a good mouse. I still love my MX-700 best, which is living it's retirement years with my Mac Mini.

I don't have my TD receipt on hand but on mine, it does say something like "AMAZNAMAZON" or some trash. I plan on highlighting that when I make a copy of the receipt and also plan to include my Amazon order summary(pulled from Amazon's page) that does say TD on it.

One question, anyone think that charging the battery would be any problem on a USB 1.1 port on a T23?
