I then called Amazon and they said that they could not honor this rebate because it was shipping from Amazon (it was shipping through TigerDirect). I went in circles with them and one of them was being stupid making stuff up. I called back and they said some machine "checks" the rebates and it would see it came from another vender (TigerDirect) and told me they would not honor it. I think it is a load of crap... I was really looking forward to this mouse. Oh well...

I think you're being misled by people with no idea what they're talking about. Amazon have nothing to do with this rebate. In fact Logitech have nothing to do with this rebate. Logitech outsource the rebate program to a fulfillment center based in Niagara Falls (866-533-6880). It is this fulfillment center that verfiy and eventually approve or deny rebate claims. These fulfillment centers act as an underwriter of sort. They come up with an estimate of expected # of rebate request based on statistics. They charge Logitech a certain amount based on the expected # so if the actual requests are lower than expected, they pocket the difference.

So please don't waste your time dealing with irrelevant parties. The only people you should be calling is the fulfillment house, their # is on the rebate and listed above.

I agree. Logitech likely drafted the rebate, and then outsources it to a rebate center. So either Logitech was negligent in including certain terms in the rebate -- based on Amazon's unique business model -- or it's exactly as nodescript as intended. Anyway, having business partners, such as TigerDirect, probably allows Amazon to appear as if they have a spectacularly large selection, and unlimited inventory.

Interesting to note, Adam8281 contacted the rebate center today; and they've now certainly had enough time to confer on the issue. Basically, we've received confirmation a handful of times from the very same people responsible for validating and fulfilling our rebates. If anyone should know how to interpret the terms, it should -- contractually -- be them.

Maaaaaaan, I just got a mx518 a few months ago and now this deal comes along for a G5. I am extremely tempted to pick one up since this is one of the top of the line laser mice. Think its worth it???

I bit. I was debating on whether or not I should order this to replace a year old MX1000 but at 19 bucks after shipping and rebate, I figured it was worth it. I just hope that they honor the rebate.

hmm, i find it kinda weird that people who ordered on thursday are getting it already. I ordered Wednesday and, like someone else mentioned, it isn't shipping until Tuesday the 21st maybe i should've signed up for the free trial of Amazon Prime that they offered me

Regulator. How much was shipping from TD? Got a G7 and thinking about trying out the G5 as well if they'll honor a rebate for a TD order. Called Amazon said you had to get it form them - of course they would say that, I didn't think to call rebate center.

G7 is good. Ordered it late Wed, got it Friday. Coming from an MX700, the "shininess" of it and the lightness make it feel a bit cheap at first. It's growing on me however - the lightness and easier gliding make me a bit faster, and I think it feels more lag-free - that's always a tough call tho! I'm already missing the second thumb button, which I never used (or accidentally pressed) in games, but which I frequently used for internet browsing. I still have my MX700 receiver plugged into my PS/2 port so I can switch for that purpose Not worth $70, but $16 I can do.

overheating, the shipping was 8.99 for both mice, so i am not sure what it would be for just one. i just ordered it this morning (3/18) so we will see about shipping, although the amazon link to wheres my stuff says it is shipped. i hope the rebates work, i think i am gonna keep the g7 sealed just in case it doesn, i do not want to buy a $70 mouse. did anyone hear about the rebates using TD, from what i understood is it didnt matter what store you bought it from as long as it was through amazon you would be all set?

Might as well open it when you buy it. The rebate is going to take forever to process with Logitech, so by the time you get accepted/rejected the return period will prolly be over.

I think the odds are in your favor for the rebates. The people at the fulfillment center are saying "yes" to that question so you might want to get one of them on tape or something
And also I think you can't return an item with the UPC cut off... ?

got mine on thursday and i like it (coming from mx500). what i don't like are the setpoint drivers (i was previously using ms intellipoint) and the lack of the forward button. but setpoint is needed to reprogram the dpi buttons and to be able to use the tilt function.

btw, anyone experiencing a scrolling bug in outlook or know a fix? (both preview pane and message panes scroll at the same time) good description here

I just finally opened up mine too. Only because it is possible, but more than unlikely this ever appears back in-stock directly from Amazon.com before the rebate deadline.

I actually had a G7 in my cart directly from Amazon the second time it became available, after the day before having already purchased one from TigerDirect. But, I was worried about, first, my refusing the UPS shipping, and then having to deal with TigerDirect's returns department -- and then, having them not refund my credit card for months, if ever.

Anyway, I'm going to keep this TigerDirect purchase, and take a chance with the rebate. Although, a) my Amazon.com order confirmation e-mail states, "Amazon Payments has charged your credit card (Mastercard) for this purchase, and the funds have been credited to TigerDirect" b) the TigerDirect packing slip mentions "WEBAMAZNAMAZONDF" c) the Amazon.com on-line invoice makes no mention of TigerDirect. So I don't think there's going to be much of a problem here.

Review Time:
=========
As for the mouse, initially, I didn't like the shape of the G7. I guess, I'm too used to my old Microsoft Optical Intellimouse USB. However, I'm slowly getting accustomed to the weight, overall shape, and texture. And have found I'm actually starting to like the ergonomics, and tactile sensation a great deal.

As for the weight, just to give you an idea, my old Microsoft Optical Intellimouse weighs 2.9 oz. vs. Logitech G7's 3.6 ounces. Incidentally, the G7's batteries are .6 ounces each, as opposed to your average NiMH 2500mAh battery at 1 oz. each.

Installation of the mouse (and the battery itself) is a breeze; battery life also seems better than expected. And, I do love the fact that there's absolutely no lag whatsoever with this mouse. During fps games, the response time is identical to that of a wired mouse... identical. The buttons are also nice and responsive, but I wish they were softer -- although, they'll probably break-in over time. The control and accuracy of the laser itself is many times that of an optical device. I compare it to the handling precision vehicle of a Lamborghini over that of a Volkswagen -- in that there is a slight learning curve (and you might crash a few times, at first) but it becomes more rewarding with each use.

Overall, I'd say this mouse is easily worth the $20 after rebate. This is the first wireless mouse I've tried that actually does exactly what it says.

Did you just buy it through amazon via TD? Were you charged shipping or tax?

6-8 weeks /me laughs You have obviously never done a logitech rebate before. Ive done a few and they all took about 3 months to get back to me.

That just means the mouse sold out at TigerDirect, and they're now showing the next lowest price -- Beach Audio. Which also means that a lot of people, who were sitting on the fence, decided to place an order at TD before the rebate deadline.

So now that most of us have our mice, how do you guys have the weight configured? From the perspective of looking down on the mouse, I have a 4.5 (black) on the top left, and a 1.7 (silver) on the top right.

For the way I hold it, if I lift the mouse iwht just my thumb and ring finger, the mouse almost balances with the back end a bit heavier, but with left and right about the same.

Just got my G7. Unfortunately I think my MX518 is a much better mouse. The G7 doesn't seem quite as smooth with the cursor as the MX518. The buttons are louder. The scroll is raised up to allow for the tilt scroll, but it doesn't feel as good and it's harder to press the button down. When the scroll is used, it's much louder than the MX518. The scroll's problems bother me the most by far.
